Idea for Ambush Ability

Post » Sun Jan 02, 2011 2:20 am

Didn't want to waste his shotgun ammo. Secondary weapons will almost always be a backup weapon, might as well use the ammo for something.

It'd be nice if you could run up to them and try to stomp them before they try to start shooting at you.

You can, and you get more XP for it, but its risky, you have to run out in the open in order to do it in a firefight.

That's how it should be. If you gun down someone and they are on your side of cover and such and you can get near them you should be able to humiliate them GOW2 style.

I found it interesting how in the demo for container city with the engineer he switched to shotgun but whenever he downed someone he switched to pistol to finish them off for some odd reason.

I believe the melee-combat-thing wasn't finished in this version because he didn't use it in several occasions where it would've made much sense to simply knoch down the enemy.

Yeah like when he goes to turn into engineer class he could have used melee (close to enemy no one else around) and when he came back out he was behind a guy and shotgunned him then used the pistol to finish him off. (I know people have a hate on for the melee attacks but a shotgun blast followed with a stomp would have worked just as well. Or better yet some kind of bayonet thing.) Also does the operative lose his disguise if he uses his back stab?

In previous SD games, no he didn't. Part of the reason for having it, was because it was the only way to attack without losing a disguise.

There is no evidence that there is even a backstab, so there's no official information about the details of it either. But backstabs would be really OP if you kept your disguise, so I would have to guess no.

Not really. Because engineers get turrets and weapon buffs. Soldiers have their thing. Medics self buff and self heal. Operatives are kind of limited. So disguise plus backstab would be a great way to wreak havoc.

And I don't think it would be that OP as you would have to actively avoid drawing attention to yourself.

It was in SD's previous games, and you kept your disguise also - it isn't OP, I have used it and seen it used first hand in their other games.

Haha. Imagine the Heavy operative that's backstabbing like crazy because he has all those pips.

What has this to do with the pips?

Isn't backstabbing an "ability" like a buff or revive?

I don't think it drains your bar, or atleast not for a significant amount. (I remember it being that way in other SD games, since I once backstabbed 8 people in 10 seconds)

No one knows, its not confirmed, or even implied that there's a backstab in the game.

That bar was really annoying in W:ET, before I realised what it was.

I would hope the backstab (if in fact it is in the game) doesn't run on pips.

Wraith will only get killed when he's out of pips to backstab people.

(If backstab is in ofcourse. Just a minor detail)

If jumping on an enemy does damage for operatives, why not give that ability to everyone. Personally, if I were to put it into a game, I would transfer fall damage unto any player you hit (in the name of Zeus), that way when you jump off a 10 story building (10 American, 9 for you Brits) you survive and get a kill (assuming you are skill enough to track an enemy's movement and check your own falling trajectory).

It would be cool to see someone jump off of the huge ship in The Shipyard and kill a guy (within this hypothetical). I'd give the guy that does that a year's supply of Kudos if I saw him do it in game.

In W:ET you could die by getting jumped on. It was really annoying because 99% of the times it happened, it was completely random.

Wearing a gun gives you a knife, yeah?

Not including a backstab ability somewhere now in the game would be a no-brainer :P

You know with the backstab ability out I would like to see this kind of thing now. Even if it was only a vertical slide tackle.
