Whenever I try to install Fallout 1 on my computer, I'm prompted to install Directx 3a. I'm confident that the version of Directx I have on my computer is more recent than that, but I installed it anyway, only to find that Fallout didn't recognize I installed it, prompting me yet again to install Directx.
Has anyone else had this problem? I'm mounting an iso (legally) on Windows XP if it makes any difference.
Select "Properties->Compatibility" to either Win95 or 98, will do just fine I think.
However I would check your dxdiag to see if it's still running directx9 correctly, if I'm not mistaken that's the correct version for winxp.
*EDIT*
To be honest, I'm not sure, but it might. How do I use compatibility mode if I'm mounting an iso?
Use compatibility mode on falloutw.exe in game folder or the desktop shortcut by right clicking then select properties etc.
