sixual Diversity in Skyrim? Part Two

Post » Sun Jan 02, 2011 11:51 pm

(snip)

And as an example of this, Crassius Curio in Morrowind was infamous for making advances on male characters. This fits perfectly with the "Elderly wealthy patron - younger foreigner servant" relationship. So there is a precedent for it in the games, and it is close to real historical situations.

Lol! Myself, I always thought uncle Crassius was just generally nasty, indiscriminate about age, race, six or even sentience.
remember 'the dance of the three legged guar' ? Dirty ole Curio always made me smile.

Thanks to dragon age origins, the last time that I visited the Bioware Social Forum it was just full of threads based on sixuality and pormographic mods. Now I have nothing against anyone of any sixual persuasion, homo or hetro, but I would hate to see this forum go the same way if Bethesda introduced a strong sixual theme in their game. The dragon age thing, well it all just felt a bit smutty to be honest, and very creepy.

It's not much more than this that is being requested. An acknowledgement of alternate sixualities, but without it being a joke, a crude come-on or a comedic stereotype. Fallout 3 had at least one reference, and fairly subtle. New Vegas has at least one companion who tells you she's gay in conversation, but nothing really more than that.

It's really not much to ask of Bethesda. Of course, they'd have to do a slightly better job of including any kind of relationships among NPCs first.

edit: I'll admit to a slight ulterior motive here. I'd kinda like to see it included so that some pathetic bigots can freak out about it and then refuse to play what will likely be a great game. Serve them right.

I counted 4 people in New Vegas who where Homosixual/lisbian
Arcade Gannon
Major Knight
Veronica
Cass (although she did not care who she slept with)
All revealed in conversation.
Oh and Ceaser's Legion is more supportive of Homosixuality, and most would rather sleep with each other than the baby momma's and slave girls.http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Confirmed_Bachelorhttp://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Cherchez_La_Femme with the same six.
(just so you can add more to the list)

I know Veronica mentions it in her backstory. I never got Arcade's full backstory, so I don't know how the topic arises with him. Major Knight, I believe, only comes up if you have an appropriate perk. Cass talked a lot, but I don't recall her being specific about anything there either.

The main point, however, was that although it was mentioned outright (which is more than FO3 did) it was never an element of the story, or affected the character in some silly way. The most it ever did was allow you to sweet-talk Major Knight, I think.

Again, please make the distinction between "six" and "sixuality." One is an act that does not belong explicitly in TES, the other is a character trait.

I could make the distinction, but the mods would not.

The continued existence of this thread disproves that allegation :)

Mods as in modifications, not moderators. I apologise.

Mods of all kinds will be made whether Bethesda address sixuality or not.

We need diversity. Period.

I'm sorry if you've written on this topic before, but why do we NEED diversity? TES already has different sixualities that doesn't exist in the real world, Dunmer dating Imperials, Bosmer dating Dunmer, Imperial dating Orc (result= The Gray Prince), etc. I need some real reasons and valid arguments, just saying "Period" doesn't work for me.

THOUGH, I wouldn't mind seeing one character from on of these groups, like Barenziah, or the necrophile from Morrowind, but really, there's no need trying to represent everyone for real relationships, it will only clutter the game and make it, dare I say, too realistic. I'm playing a fantastic role playing game, not a life simulator. There's tons of things you can't do in real life from the TES games, I don't know why everything from real life should make its way unto the game, it will only loose its appeal, its otherworldliness, its uniqueness.

Pretty much how I feel. Light touches here and there, e.g. Crassius Curio, enrich the game world, I'm pretty much happy not knowing the tastes of most NPCs. Maybe the men who would sometimes share a bed in the Skingrad mage's guild were gay, maybe there just weren't enough beds to go around. Letting the player assume what they will works for me. In-game romances can be fun, but they have a tendency to distort game focus and seem to lead to a lot of whining and agitation on games forums.

I don't need to see PDA in video games. It does not add to my experience or the suspension of disbelief. I don't care if it is in the game, but I do not notice if it is absent either. Obsessing on it seems a bit unhealthy to me. Why should we be worried about the love/six life of others? especially in a game?

EDIT: By the way, behaviors that do not facilitate the continuation of a species are unhealthy. Unhealthy does not mean morally wrong or evil, it just means that they do not contribute to the survival of the species. Granted, humans are doing a pretty good job of overpopulating the planet as it is so unhealthy behaviors have more room for existence.

This. Why would it really matter in an open world game like this? I understand in a game like FFX where it is a huge aspect of the story and fully unavoidable but I really don't care for a game like this because I rarely play the game in the same way twice. Also I play with subtitles and read faster than they talk so I'll never hear the big Orc talking about his Altmer "Schmookiepoo" anyways.

This scares me. You can't actually be in love with AI because the only way it can love you back is if it was programmed to. And then you are just the 1s and 0s that make it's internal programming solve for X. Not until it is self aware at least and then I'm too busy figuring out how to turn my microwave into an EMP to keep the sentient hordes at bay.

Curio was a character. Anyway, personally I think that Nords would not be very open minded about diverse sixuality. For obvious reasons they remind me of the Norse and Germanic pagans, who were rather conservative in that regard and viewed it as very unmanly. It would have been more at home in Oblivion, with Cyrodiil's blatant Roman influence...

I just hope that there is a movement away from Oblivion's G rated nature on the topic and a return towards Daggerfall. Fallout 3 gives me hope it will.

This was an entirely unnecessary topic to bring up and is only likely to lead to arguments.

Personally, I don't really feel it would fit with TES, considering the era. If, as the OP says, the humans in TES are similar to real humans, then I'd say that it may be frowned upon, as it was until quite recently. It was an option in Fable though, however, so maybe what I just said isn't relevant.

Edit: If I remember correctly, there was the option of both male and female prosttutes in New Vegas, no matter what six your character was, so maybe that's a step in the direction of sixual diversity.

Yeah, this is close enough to post limit to warrant closing.

Two topics on this are enough, the moderators have had to constantly watch this topic and quite a number of posts have been deleted from them for various reasons.

We don't want another topic on this subject. Thanks.
