halo style record video/screenshot system

:banghead:

One word: No.

Happy?

Well if you take away the argument that it will impact on the rest of the game, then what argument do you have, other than you wouldn't use it?
This would be incredibly useful for the modders and machinima-ists, not to mention all the people who just want to save hilarious things for others to see.

Some people clearly haven't used the theater feature in Halo/COD. It's nothing like FRAPS, nor a capture card. It would be immensely awesome in both console and PC versions of Skyrim.

Actually I would like to be able to pause the game, fly around with a camera and make sick screenshots.
I really liked that in Dragon Age(Well aside from the free camera thing)

I honestly don't see how this would really be a useful tool in a single player only game, let alone a game as big as TES.

Stop with this argument please. Bethesda is a very very large company now if you haven't noticed, if they can't add things like this without it impacting on other parts of development then they need to fire their project managers.

Edit: There is a difference between just recording a video of whats happening, and recording data like player and enemy locations and movements in order to re-render them again later in the demo viewer.
They already have the tools to record world states and replay them later, because they'll use them for trailers and what not.

and you are a reasourceful human being with an obvious knowledge of how to operate a computer. So I'm sure that you could at least just grab a camera and take a picture yourself; or even figure out how to set up a VCR or capture device if you put your mind to it. Why must the company be responcible for all aspects that You want and are fully capable of fabricating or producing yourself?

Because like I said, there is a big difference between a screenshot or video of the action, and a demo recorder. A demo recorder doesn't output a video file, it outputs a file detailing the positions of everything around the player, which is then rendered by the engine, allowing for manipulation of the camera in much more sophisticated ways.

It is also usually a seperate component from the game itself.
I am well aware of what it is, I just don't understand why you need it when you are capable of making your own (though not as needlessly detailed or large). I never stated that the system was inherently bad. In concept it is a rather cool idea and replays were rather fun to make, but it has only ever really been integrated into shooters or other Multiplayer games for good reason. As interesting as recording an AI character sounds (though with radient AI this could be interesting in all honesty) I fail to see the need for such a comprehensive recording in a single player rpg.
