Skooma Pipes?

Post » Mon Jan 03, 2011 8:23 pm

I'm not saying I want them, just that it'd be nice to have some type of animation so that they are not just some random object taking up space.

Maybe having them being filled or something. That is if they add skooma in TESV.

i agree with you but i think an animation should be part of more than just skooma. I would like to see my character drink from a bottle when he is drinking beer, potions ect.... eating could also have a short animation just to add a little more realism and immersion into the game :foodndrink:

I'd like to see tobacco pipes with smoking animations. LoTR online did it without hurting their game rating.

well oblivion was changed to an m rating after its release so if there plan to make another mature game they shouldnt need to worry about ratings.

With mods, they can't help but get an M rating.

Because the way video games are rated makes no loving sense at all.

The ESRB rates the vanilla version of games and the publishers are required to disclose that "online activity" cannot be rated. Mods cannot be a part of the ESRB's rating since it is they are not a part of the package sold.

unless they're something like an unlock of content already on the disk; The Oblivion nvde crack and hot coffee mod for GTA SA were already on the disk, which is why they got a re rating.

I thought Skooma was a liquid, but then again I only played through Oblivion.

It was in bottles in Morrowind, also. But there was also an alchemy ingredient called moon sugar, which was used to make skooma. And there was an alchemy apparatus that was shaped sort of like an ancient oil lamp, called a skooma pipe. It went in the mortar and pestle slot in alchemy.

I think skooma is a drink made from moon sugar, and they smoke the moon sugar. But I'm not sure.

Yes this is a mystery to me as well, because in Morrowind you had moon sugar which was a solid, I presume. So just guessing here, maybe moon sugar is grinded with something else and makes Skooma, a liquid that is heated in the pipes, to form some form of inhalant. OR it's a solid/liquid mix and they just smoke it like grass. The bottles Skooma comes in, however doesn't really support this

So moon sugar and skooma have a relationship similar to that of coke and crack? (Seriously: Moon Sugar??)

Yeah, it's made/grown/manufactured in Elsweyr, and the Khajiit have an inborn NEED for it. To other races, it's pretty dangerous but Khajiit take it everyday. Illegal in the Empire, it is mixed with another ingredient(s) and turned into the drug known as Skooma.
So basically-Moon Sugar+?(s)=Skooma
You can probably find more info on Moon Sugar and Skooma on the UESP

Not to be nitpicky, but Oblivion's inaccessible nvde art file was not the cause of the re-rating. The ESRB based its decision to re-rate on the premise that the game had more disturbing scenes and imagery than they previously believed it had. Since the art file in question had to be edited by third-party modification to enable and access it within the game, it could not affect the actual rating of the game.

And sure, so long as Bethesda keeps up their work to improve their animation quality. Watching NPCs eat food and hoe their gardens was a step in the right direction in making the world more dynamic. Skooma animations would certainly add to that.
