I like to roleplay as a Redguard ("The most naturally talented warriors in Tamriel") specialising in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hf4IoxEUmHM. The link leads to a video which serves as an excellent example of what I mean.

Gear/Style:

  • A Pilum/Javelin/throwing spear for a short but powerful ranged attack before closing in to melee

  • Longsword in the right hand, light if possible - the long reach of this is crucial to stay as far away form the enemy as possible, whilst the lightness means your attacks can be quick and sharp, a deadly mixture of short slash and pointed thrust (as opposed to clumsy wide slashes and a blow-after-blow-till-he's-down form of combat)

  • Shield in the left hand - it's blocking functionality is absolutely key for melee combat

  • Light armour - necessary to fight quickly and ably, not being clunked down by heavy armour. You don't need to wear thick metal if you're quick enough to avoid getting hit :D

  • Evasive manuevaring and quickness of foot - hopefully the new combat mechanics will give me dodging abilities!

  • Complementary basic offensive magic - although most Redguards see magic as for the 'weak or wicked', my PC is cosmopolitan and intelligent enough to appreciate the practical applications of a good fireball in combat :chaos:

This my favourite form of combat, more elegant and based on skill than when clad in heavy armour (those fights usually become wars of attrition and mere endurance, i.e. who can take the most punishment in a metal suit before going down. A good anology would be fencing compared to boxing. Ugh :shakehead: )

I wish there were flails in the game, but I doubt they will be present.

Therefore I will go for big two handed blunt weapons, probably hammers or maybe a mace.

Will scour the whole of Skyrim until I find an Elven shortsword, then keep it in one hand because it's only proper, playing an Elf and all, while raining destruction magic with the other hand. Might even go left handed for the roleplay as I'm right handed.

I fight like a tank. That means a sword in one hand and a shield in another. I might use duel weilding now seeing as two swords might double the amount of damage.

However, I'll have other characters this time around to take full advantage to what's there.

So what do you prefer using, I personally prefer playing a mostly mage character and using a blade to deal damage once my magika runs low, so I will likely play something like that in Skyrim.

So your a battle mage but aside of that I have always used stealth I was deadly with it to.
