Chapter 1

I stood their with a blank expression. My hands trembling in front of the Keypad. I look up, and see hundreds of pounds of irradiated water floating around what used to be a statue of Thomas Jefferson. I look back down, ignoring my surroundings. But I knew, to my left was a group of friends, all counting on me to activate a water purifier. Then, to my right was the dead body of what used to be my dad. But in my head, I heard the voice of John Henry Eden, he just kept saying the same thing over and over.

"Insert the FEV" , "Insert the FEV",

I knew, if I did, mutants, radscorpians, deathclaws and more would be gone from the Capitol Wastes forever. It sounded like bliss. But this particular FEV strain destroys ALL irradiated beings it comes in contact with, and that's all of the innocence in the Capitol Wasteland. So, I had to choose, a clean and pure restart to the Capitol's future...in the Enclaves image? Or give pure water to all, and permanently take out one of the biggest threats in the Wastes..the Enclave.

I had made up my mind. But for some reason, it went blank. All I could think about was the passcode to start it all. The vile of FEV dropped from my hands, and I took a small step towards the keypad. Once I had done this, the Capitol Wasteland would be changed forever, and it's constant threat would be all too real. But it was worth it. I stopped everything on my mind.

I typed in the first digit. "2" I say to my self. I begin to hear my Geiger Counter go up to 300 rads. I can feel the heat start to pass through my Tesla.

I type the second digit. "1". My breathing starts to slow, and my vision blurs, the Geiger goes up to 450. I am starting to sweat, I can feel it trickle down the tattered steel.

I type the final digit. "6". I let out a last breathe as my counter reaches 500 rads. My hand pulls away from the keypad. I stumble back, and my eyes begin to grow heavy. I'm breathing deeply and slowly. I fall backwards with my arms outstretched in front of me. The last thing I see is the Jefferson Statue, and then the green water begin to clear. It became a pure blue. I let it a light grin. I have hardly any life left. I turn my head to the right where I get the final glimpse of my father. The rumbling from the Project Purity turbines begin and the sound of clean rushing water finishes me off. Any my mind went blank.

2 Weeks Later (October 21st 2277)

The light peered through my eyelids. I could feel the fluorescents pour in as my eyes peer open. It was blurry for a while. My vision was still adjusting. I look around the room. It's empty, nothing but cracked tile and old Brotherhood posters. I hear static coming from a nearby radio, I try to listen in. I can barely make out what it says, but I know it's 3 Dog.

"Heeellloooo Wasteland!!! Today we've got some great juice for youuuu!!! We are now in week TWOO of the Looone Wandererss coma. Doctors are still checking on him, but we think he'll be just fine. So thaanksss for listening.. CHILDREN!!! This is 3 DOOWWGG....OOUUUTT!!!"

I squint in wonderment at the word coma. I look at my PIP-Boy. "October 21st, 2277" I say to myself. Before I could gather my thoughts, a door bursts open to my right. I turn my head and see Sarah Lyons walk in with the Elder and Fawkes. That's when I knew I was in the Citadel. An explosion came from the outside. Smoke poured in from the window at the far left. The tables rumbled and picture frames on the pvssyred. Everyone braced themselves against the wall. I got out of the bed and limped towards the window. I flapped my right arm around to clear the air of smoke. I looked out the window and saw a huge band of Raiders, Outcasts, and Super Mutants bombing out the front wall of the Citadel. Sarah then broke the silence.

"They've been attacking for days now. They come and go throughout the week. But I don't know how much longer we can hold out. They've been coming at midnight too."

I nodded my head and looked back at the war between the band of Super mutants, raiders, and outcasts to the Citadel. They were retreating, a couple of sentry bots and Paladins scared them off.

"Don't worry, they'll be back tomorrow." She states once more.

I think to myself. "This is going to be a problem."

I like it! I really do! Just one thing that's not clear. Did he use the FEV or did he just drop it on the floor?

When he drops it, it's symbolic for him choosing the "good" way. And thanks :) I will do Chapter 2 later today because I have school tomorrow. :shakehead:

Alright, this was a good read!

Improper use of "their", random capitalization of "Keypad, Capitol Wasteland should be Capital Wasteland, a colon is probably needed at one point.

That's all have, really, really small stuff. The only problem I have with the story itself is why Super Mutants, Outcasts, and Raiders are all working together? It makes no sense to me, by their natures it seems impossible for them to get along. And by the way, the scene when he wakes up and their bombing the Citadel kind of confuses me. If their outside the Citadel, why is he able to see them? And if their inside, that's just weird.

In the story, he looks out of the window and sees that raiders, outcasts, and super mutants are bombing out the Citadel. Which means they're firing a lot at the Citadel. I've seen actual cases in Fallout 3 where Super Mutants did not attack raiders, until a certain enemy was killed. Sometimes raiders wouldn't attack me until a certain enemy is killed. I was just using that experience here. But there is further explanation in chapter 2.

Chapter 2

We strut down the halls of the Citadel in a small group. We exited the A-Ring and entered the B-Ring. I knew exactly where we were going, we stood in front of the tall steel doors to the Laboratory. The doors didn't creak, it didn't whine, it opened swiftly. When I entered, nothing much changed. The terminals to the left, scribes to the right. I was immediately approached by Paladin Gunny.

"Good to see you wide awake! But as you probably already know we need help. The Citadel isn't safe for us anymore. Vault 87's supply of FEV is running low." Gunny points at an orange lit map on the wall. He points at Vault 87. "Some of our scouters have been investigating Vault areas and we found that Super Mutants have been sending scavenger teams to FEV testing facilities. They need their fix. So they've been extracting FEV from a currently unknown sour-." before he could finish, I interrupted him.

"What about the Super Mutants working with Raiders and Outcasts?"

"I was getting to that, and the FEV they've been using was enhanced by the Enclave. We believe they are getting the FEV from the Raven Rock ruins. They have become highly eloquent and more human. They can feel regret, anger, sadness, and happiness. But we haven't been able to get close enough to experience anything else. They've become sensible enough to know that we are a threat. The Outcasts were the first to team up with the Super Mutants when they passed by Fort Independence looking for energy weapons. Raiders come along in short supply."

"What are we going to do about it?" Sarah asks in the background.

I jump in and say "We need something bigger, better, and more secure. The citadel, this place is bound to come down soon."

"Yea but where?" Sarah rebounds.

"What other place in the wasteland is almost impossible for most people to get into?" Sarah takes a minute to process my question. She turns to me with an ingenious smile. Her face is bright with enlightenment. "The DC Ruins."
_____________________________________

I activated my PIP-Boy and opened up the information for the DC Ruins. "We need to start from the outside, and tunnel our way in. We need to take Dupont Circle, L'Efant Plaza, Seward Square and Vernon Square. We need to take FULL control for this to work. Which means all metro stations need to be taken from hostile powers. Those DC Areas are very heavily populated with Mutants, we need to eradicate all hostiles in the area. That includes the Statesman Hotel, Lady of Good Hope hospital, and all other locations of interest in the area. We can set bases there so we can continue plans. Once we take those areas we can continue into DC. All metro stations on the interior of the DC area are to remain open, exits are to be sealed off for no entrance from the outside. Interior DC metro stations are left open to maneuver around the city. No one goes in or out with the use of Metro."

"How will we get supplies to do all of this? And how will we be able to survive if we're cut off from the outside world?!" The elder Lyons questions.

"Before we begin our DC expedition we need to scavenge Raven Rock for important technologies. Abandoned Vertibirds are just outside of the base, I don't think the Super Mutants have a use for them. But we do. We can use them to fly in and out of the city." The Elder remained quiet. "Since there are a lot of metro areas we will basically rule the Under DC Area. We will make our move on the surface starting from the Lincoln Memorial, and Washington Monument. Since they are both BoS occupied areas. We will be safe to base there, and in our other taken areas. They will all be Mutant free. But of course we still need to take over the rest of the Mall. The National Archives, Museum of History, and Museum of Technology, along with the Capitol Building and what used to be the White House regions will be the last of our threats. Over 75% of DC's mutants will be gone. The last 25% make up these areas.

"This is quite a high scale plan. How do you plan to get the man power for this?" Paladin Gunny interrupts.

"Brotherhood of Steel members, Megaton Settlers, Regulators, Reilly's Rangers, and Underworld Ghouls can be of great help. I am not even going to bother with Tenpenny Tower. Like I have said before, taking over the Metro Areas will give us a great start, and it isn't complicated because we can attack at all fours corners. From L'Efant Plaza, to Dupont, then Seward, and finally Vernon. Pennsylvania Avenue can be taken along with the White House region. The Capitol Building can serve as our new Citadel.

"It sounds like a great plan, highly possible, and fairly simple. But what if we mess up?"

"We don't have room for slips. We only have one shot at this because once we begin basing in the Underground Metros, the Super Mutants, Raiders, and Outcasts will of already taken the Citadel. So we have no where to go back to if we mess up. We're blind down there sir. So we just need to keep moving forward. We will have some losses in man power but it is the future of the wasteland. This will be our personal metropolis oasis. We can begin modernizing after we reconstruct."

"I am trusting you with the soul of the Brotherhood. How long do we need to prepare?" Gunny asks wittingly.

"I would say about 2 months. We will begin in January." I counter.

"At ease soldier."

Chapter 3

November 13th 2277

"Where are you going." Sarah Lyons asks the Lone Wanderer as he packs his things. Before he answers he grabs his Vault-Tec Charisma Bobblehead and stuffs it into his rucksack.

"Megaton." He looks up with a smile and exasperated sigh. "I heard they were having trouble with raiders. It's probably nothing but we can never be too careful with what we've been dealing with right?" Sarah just glares at him with an impatient look.

"You were in a coma a few weeks ago and now you think you can actually handle some fire? I don't think so, you're not going anywhere." Her eyes gave off a serious vibe. I didn't care. I continued anyway.

"You don't understand, Megaton, they need us. When I first got there, it was the life, but if they're in trouble, I'm in trouble, and so is the rest of the Citadel. We need their manpower for annexing DC. So do what you want but I'm leaving." Sarah just stood with a blank expression. She began again.

"Fine, but you're taking a squad, and I'm coming just to drag your body out of the flames. Then I'm gonna be dancing on your grave."

"Okay with me." I reply sarcastically.
_____________________________________

I activate my PIP-Boy, I locate the coordinates for Megaton. I wait in the Citadel halls as the squad prepares to help me out in Megaton. Sarah passes by me and shoves a Plasma rifle into my chest. My crossed arms cradle the weapon. "You're gonna need this." She says as she exits the room. I plug in a round of Microfusions. I [censored] the rifle, I was ready for some hell.
_____________________________________

We could see Megaton in the distance. The ancient turbines from a 2077 airline were the first things to jut out of the horizon as we approached it. When we got there it was a battlefield outside. There were raiders, flooding the whole courtyard to Megaton. "Springvale Raiders. Haven't seen them in a while." From the corner of my eye I could see a Painspike Raider finishing off Megatons Protectron. Out of moral, I immediately fired plasma with the use of VATS and disintegrated him like yesterdays deathclaw. Sarah flicked me behind my head.

"YOU IDIOT!!! YOU WANT AN ARMY OF RAIDERS ON YOUR ASS DON'T YOU!?"

All I did was chuckle, and in a way, she was right. The cookie cutting in 101, couldn't compare to the constant adrenalin from the Wasteland. But out of pure instinct, I turned back to my right, and I could see the raiders staring up at the hill we stood on, like bloatflies. We were in plain site. A barrage of bullets were flung from the left, right, up, and down. But the raiders were no match. Paladin Rittes fired blindly at the taken fortress of raiders. Before they could run blankly into our fire, most of the raiders had been shot down. Just about 30% of the previous raiders had really made it to our grounds. That's when I fired. Thousands of shades of greens and yellows were thrown back and fourth. We had lost Paladin Rittes and Billings, but our now squad of 4 was still valiant.

We pushed through the bodies of raiders that laid dead on the dirt and ancient gravel and made it to Megatons front door. Out of shear luck, Harden Simms had been watching our war down in the wasteland. He opened to doors into Megaton. We could hear through the rust and steel, hundreds of screams and yelps from the people of Megaton. Harden, had seemed to of been hiding up on the crows nest. He always was a bright one.

That's when Sarah said "By the sound of things, there's going to be a bigger piece of hell in there. Who knows what's going on in there, so no matter what we stay together! Got it?!" When she finished, the Paladins immediately saluted and replied with "YES SIR!!!" I could feel Sarah's eyes on me. I looked up from looking deafly into a shopping cart cage thrown in a corner, and said "Sure."

But there was a hidden meaning to that cage.

Awesome. The story structure is pretty nice, some things I don't like:

Not writing numbers out: 2=two, 5=five, etc.

The use of VATS(I always found it ridiculous to use something like that, I don't know why, personal problem I guess)

This sentence: I [censored] the rifle, I was ready for some hell. (What possibly could behind that censor tag? It's late and I can't think of any obscenities that would fit.)

That's it. Minor as always.

I guess the site censored it. But it was c-o-c-ked. As in, like loaded the gun, or ready to fire.

Chapter 4

"What are you doing?" Sarah asks me like a child. I was snapped out of my gaze. She squinted her eyes and turned herself to where I was staring into. "A shopping cart cage? Oh gosh, you really are stupid." She turned away with a smirk.

"You don't have much experience with Super Mutants, do you?" Sarah cut me off, straight after.

"What the hell does this have to do with-" Sarah stopped herself, her smirk turned into a straight face. I could see her tighten up. She turned from me and began again. "Men, we're going to be facing Super Mutants in there, so bring you're A-Game. If we lose you, we're not coming back for you. Are we clear?" The squad was quiet. Nothing but the rustling of radroaches in the background. "I said, are we CLEAR?!" The squad was active again. The let out a loud 'YES SIR'. She turned back to me. "Ready?"

"Ready."

The squad turned to the doors into Megaton. I pushed against the door, the metal wouldn't budge. Sarah and the squad stepped in. Sarah announces "PUSH ON 3...3!!!" We all pushed at the doors, they nudged forward a few inches and then completely froze. "This isn't working."

I look through the break in the doors. I look up, and see nothing but smoke. I look down, and see debris littered all over the foot of the door. To my left I can see a stricken "Moriarty's Saloon" sign, and to my right I saw bodies inhabiting the ground. I pull myself from the door and face the squad. "We need to get in there, Megaton is going to help us annex DC. We need to salvage anyone we can." I loaded my rifle, and Sarah followed. "Stand back."

I pulled out 3 land mines and a couple of grenades. I frisbeed the land mines into place and waited for their activating sound. I heard the click and threw my grenades. We stood back around 20 feet;we were back in the littered courtyard. The explosion from the grenades made a domino effect on the land mines. They erupted along with the grenades, sand and smoke was blinding. Tiny scraps of metal and ancient steel was flung around us. The smoke and ash cleared, and we dove in.

It was an awe striking site. To our left were demolished structures. The metal railings and walkways were completely demolished. Metal hung down above us like torn cloth. The walls to buildings were stripped down to mere frames. Bodies were piled in one corner, and where the puddle of irradiated water by the prehistoric megaton bomb was a blood red. The Atom's Church, priest was lain in the puddle. Children ran around the corner hiding from super mutants. The sound of gatling lasers all around us was deafening.

Sarah signaled the signal to fire. I wasn't focused on fire. I activated my PIP-Boy and enabled a Stealth boy. I passed swiftly across raging super mutants, yelling out various "AH HA!!!"'s and "I've FOUND YOU!!!"'s. As I walked, I threw Stealth Boy's in the direction of captured settlers. Everyone was an asset to annexing DC. That is all I could think about. Countless settlers were vanishing into the air. They all ran out into the battlefield that was once Megaton's courtyard.
_______________________________

There was a dead silence throughout Megaton. The super mutants, as well as two BoS soldiers were killed in the cross fire. Our Squad of four was now just me and Sarah Lyons. We scavenged their armor and weapons for future use, and had the settlers help scavenge weapons, armor, metals, food, anything we can find, off of dead bodies, and buildings.

It was now 6:35 PM. The sun was about to go down. We knew we had to reach the Citadel immediately. I knew that Megaton was going to be a new Super Mutant camp, so it wouldn't be long until more mutants came like snakes surrounding their buddy's bodies. We would be sitting ducks in the ruins of Megaton. We would definitely die out in the wasteland, especially with our large group. We only had one choice.

After walking 20 miles, surpassing raiders, mutants, robots, and more, we finally stopped at the desolation of Grayditch. I recognized the area from my past travels. Some settlers were skeptical of the area because of rumors of the Fire Ant. I assured them they were long gone. I knew we would be safe here for the night. Megaton settlers spread themselves throughout the area. It was a cold night, Lyons and I guarded the town for any trouble. We knew it was going to be a long night.

You're really moving this, and its getting better and better. Hell, these first four chapters were better than my first four on my first FF. Good job man.

Work on spacing out the dialogue:

"Hey Jim." said Bob.

Jim, who had been walking to his house replied, "Howdy Bob."

Or

"Hey Jim." said Bob.

Jim, stopped in mid-stride, turned to Bob, and smiled.

"Howdy Bob."

See the spacing?

That's bout it besides little spelling errors.

"A shopping cart cage? Oh gosh, you really are stupid." She turned away with a smirk.

Something about this...it just doesn't seem like something she'd say or do, especially in the heat of battle. I dunno, maybe its me.

To our left were demolished structures. The metal railings and walkways were completely demolished.

You used demolished twice. Not very nice to read, try looking up synonyms for demolish, then using that word.

I activated my PIP-Boy and enabled a Stealth boy.

This being realistic-fiction, its possible to just take one out of your bag, and also actually impossible to activate tangibles via pip-boy, besides recordings. And there is a real life limit to what you can carry too.

Chapter 5

I stood guard on Marigold Street. I was on the impasse onto Contriantle Drive. The isolated ruins of a bridge was in front of me. To my far left was the Marigold Metro Station, and to my right was the open Wasteland. I sauntered around the street. Kicking things around. Nothing much happened around here ever since Bryan Wilks left to Rivet City. I could hear the irradiated breeze blow ancient tumbleweeds and fractured trees around to my right. The sand blew softly to my face, for a moment, I actually felt peace coming from the Wasteland. That ended when I heard the blasts of Sarah's rifle. I stopped all of my thoughts at once, and clipped my Plasma Rifle to my belt, I sprinted down Contriantle Drive, I leaped over stones, and railways that were once part of the Contriantle Connecting Bridge. I dodged metal bars to my left, and stone structures to my right. I ducked under the remains of the connecting bridge and I could see the Dot's Diner right down D'Efriale Way. From the corner of my left eye I could see Megaton Settlers peering out of the smashed in windows of the Abandoned House. I ran past the Brandice Residence, and then veered right, past the Shack. I could see Sarah firing at a Protectron. Reds, and yellows flew around. The Protectron looked familar, and that's when the revelation came.

Doctor Lesko came out of his shack, with his arms flailing while he yells "ARE YOU MAD, WOMAN!?!??!?!"

Sarah turns with a squint in her eyes, trying to get a better look at Lesko. The temporary distraction, gave the Protectron his chance to attack. The pilot light at the head of it's torso lit a pure red and fired multiple beams. Most of the shots from the Protectron, missed and fired into the distance. One or two of the shots struck her in her firing arm. She let out a yelp.

"AHHG!" Sarah let out a girlish scream as she dropped her rifle. Her fingers cackled wide in pain. They synchronized themselves into a fist. She got down to her knees and used her left hand to pull out a pistol. She fired blindly. Three shots, and the Protectron dropped to the ground. It's lights were still blinking wildly. Lesko just stood in the background.

"Well don't KILL HIM!!! He's what keeps me safe in this HELL HOLE!!!" Lesko yells from a few feet from Sarah as he adjusts his glasses with his mouth open.

"You're little guardian just singed by f***ing ARM!!!" Sarah hollers from across. I come to her aid, as I am on my knees, crouching down to her level, the Protectron starts standing up. I glance at the pistol Sarah left on the floor as she tended to her own wound. I reach for it and fire 3 more bullets at the Protectron. The shots were straight in it's electrical conductor.

"What have you DONE!?! There's no more hope for me in Grayditch if my Protectron is dead now!!!" Lesko says in his panicking tone. I cut him off straight after.

"Don't worry, the shots were just enough to disable him for a few hours, he will be back online in the morning. For now, you're just like one of the Megaton Settlers. So get your ass back into the shed and you won't get hurt." Lesko follows directly. He turns to the Protectron and drags it back into his shed. He shuts the door without a word.

Sarah and I had finally organized the Megaton Settlers and were heading East to the Citadel. I stood at the top of a stairwell just past the Dot's Diner. We were more or less at the center of the town. I began. "Okay. We need to get to the Citadel as soon as possible. You will all be safe there, but for now we are in danger, I know many of you are not used to the Wasteland. But you should know, your old town, 'Megaton', is now a Super Mutant base." He paused, and the settlers talked amongst themselves in a state of shock. "We are going through the Arlington Cemetery South. There's no threat there, we can base there if we want, but we have a lot of land to cover. We just have around 15 more miles to the Citadel. After we cross the Arlington Cemetery South sector, we will get to Mama Dolce's. Now, don't try anything stupid, because that place is crawling with Ferals. When we get across that we will pass the Fall's Church Metropolitan District. We need to go under ground if we don't want to get attacked by the inhabiting Super Mutants. After that we're home free for the Citadel. If you have a weapon, raise your hand."

I stared down onto the settlers, about half of the population raised their hands. I began again.

"Sarah and I will be the front lines of this caravan. Those with weapons will be the perimeter of our caravan. Those without weapons will stay INSIDE the perimeter of shooters. We will be traveling as a group and I want it to stay that way." We leave at 8:00 PM. Get loaded up and armored, this is going to take a while.

Sarah approached me, she handed me Paladin Billings' power armor. I accepted it without question. It's survival of the fittest out here, so I took what I could. A settler approached me. She started.

"Sir, how are we going to carry the scraps we took from Megaton." I realized this hadn't crossed my mind. I stood up and made a second announcement.

"We need something to carry our Megaton Scraps in. I need a team to come with me into the Contriantle District of Grayditch. Now, the Contriantle District of Grayditch is what we would call, a 'Cement Island.' In Pre-War times the Contriantle District was cut off from Pre-War Grayditch. The Contriantle Connection Bridge was the only thing holding Grayditch and Contriantle together. So, we need to go over the connecting bridge and into Contriantle. In there, there is the Contriantle Connection's Supermarket. We need to scavenge shopping carts. With those we can transfer the scraps. Who's coming?"

No one raised their hand at first, but when I used a more forceful tone, there were more takers. I turned to Sarah.

"We will be back in a few minutes. The Contriantle District is clear of hostiles, it won't be long. For now, just, babysit." She agreed and I left with the crew.

We were going down D'Efriale Way and stopped at the collapsed bridge. I managed to get myself up, and acted as a pulley to help others up. We turned North, now going along Contriantle Drive. The settlers were beginning to get nervous. The tattered buildings and public terminals lined the higher leveled area. By the looks of it, the Contriantle District was definitely ahead of it's time even before 2077. We turned west, and were in the parking plaza of the Contriantle Connection's Supermarket. Straight in front of it's lot, was metropolis buildings, still intact. For some reason this area didn't seem to be affected by the great war. What I didn't know was, that the Contriantle District had always used it's own security, electrical wiring, water reservoirs, electric plants, construction companies, phone companies, and even small military. This District didn't even seem like it was part of Pre-War Virginia. It was a known fact, that this particular area, with the right mind and handy work, could be the perfect fortification. In Pre-War times this area was also the first place to ever use Enclave, power fields as it's protection from the outside world. With a little bit of tweaking, no one can get into Contriantle without permission.

But this was no time to be loving the thought at living in Post-Apocalyptic Contriantle, we had bigger plans. Plans in DC.

Chapter 6 Coming Soon

Notes

1. Contriantle is a fictional area, not featured in the Fallout 3 gameplay. Contriantle Drive, Contriantle Connection Bridge, Super Markets, etc.. are entirely fictional. So don't go searching for it, in-game.

2. D'Efriale Way (where the Wilks Residence, and Abandoned Homes are located) is completely fictional.

3. There IS actually a bridge in Grayditch, that is destroyed, leading into another area. I have not explored the area so I do not know what lies northeast of Grayditch.

4. There is not area in Fallout 3 with it's own personal connections to water, electrical supply, industrial and metropolitan connections, etc. So don't go looking for one in-game. (It would be cool though)
