My game seems to be broken somehow.

So, I've had FO3 on PC for few months now and it's been running ok. Nearly weeks it has altought started to lag more than usually, deactivating mods don't effect this. Then it started to do these random crashes, It's been happening more often and often. The game crashes usually at autosaves, not aways, but it also randomly crashes just by walking around. When it started, it happened from 30 to 60 minutes of gameplay, now it can crash like every 5 minutes. Sometimes I have a hour-straight without a crash but that's rare. I have the quicksave button placed on my mouse to press it often so my process is safed, but it really destroys the mood pretty well when you have to start over and over. Deactivating mods - tried, no effect.

Then yesterday happened something very annoying. The game crashed pretty normal, then it started to crash every second I loaded a save and finally half of my saves vere corrupted. I got one working save, but the loading meter has completely vanished from the main loading screen and those door-opening loading screens. That circle where the line goes round is just invinsible. The game loads ok, I can see everything else on the screen but not the meter. What the heck has caused this? (Mods deactivated - no effect.)

Since I play the game on the digital version without a disc and the disc is somewhere in this messy house, it's not a good fixing option to reinstall game. It may work yes, and I'll find the disc if nothing helps, but I'd like to hear some more options first.

-And, it's not needed to post the dxdiag since my comp can and has ran the game very well until now.

So thanks to everyone helpful person already, hope you could help.

You have quicksave bound to a mouse button? That's crazy. Do you exlusively use quick and autosaves? It's likely they've corrupted.

That or a piece of hardware is failing. Or you've got some background process stealing cpu time.

One thing I can think of is the Blue Star Sasparilla Bottle Caps. Each has a script attached so they can cause a performance drop I think if you have many of them.

1. Yeah, I think it's easy to press the quicksave button like every minute, it has never corrupted the saves (except yesterday when almost all saves died, no idea where did that come from). The game has never crashed, slowed down or lagged during the quicksave. I had to put the button in the mouse, the game started doing that crash-thing loong before I moved the button, and normal saving takes too much time for being done every 5 minutes.

2. Is there a way to fix that Blue-Star whatever thing?

//Edit: alright, now this [censored] ends. I just tried to finish a quest but it started crashing over and over in a same place, just couldnt finish anything. I dont care did the whole save corrupt again, I'm not playing this broken sh*t until I find the solution.

^You mean the Economics of Violence quest you get from Pronto?

It's annoying to try to do a quest with every 5 minutes crashing but lets give a try.

//Alright, updates: I played Point Lookout a while, and it crashed 2 times in a minute but then it started to work very well and did not crash on 2-hour playtime. Also, the loading meter came back to the main loading screen.

Then I travelled back to CW, the loading meter vanished right away and it crashed pretty soon I had arrived from PL.

Well, I dunno if this has anything to do with this, but Anchorage crashes as soon as I step into the simulator and the DLC begins. Well now, I wondered around Wastelands and suddenly there came that outcast guy who escorts me to the Outcast Leader before the quest begins. I kinda spooked and killed him (:D) and suddenly there came an quest entry that I have arrived to Anchorage and I must check out the VSS station or something. Does this mean the DLC works now when the quest entry came up?

Oh, ok...

Besides, it would have been impossible to do anything in-game whatsoever, now I simply can't do anything in the game. I load a save, walk for 5 seconds and the game freezes (actually, it's that hellish slow lagging that the screen moves like 1 time per minute, and it makes the gaming impossible. So what can really effect this, it's been working well, nothings changed except downloaded some mods, but I've tried playing without mods too and thats all the same. Also I putted the graphics from High to Medium and then Low, but it didn't also effect at all.

I don't wanna sound like a madass jerk but I'm considering of deleting the whole game and forget the best game I ever played, wich I just got to PC.
