[RELz] Protective Guards v1.3

Post » Sun Jan 09, 2011 6:09 am

It was pointed out to me that for some odd reason this wasn't working with NazoX9's Guard Mod. It was assumed that it had something to do with the names or IDs of the guards in that mod, but that turned out to not be the case. There was some very odd conflict with the structure of one of the scripts. Once I discovered that, fixing it was a snap. :goodjob:

How come guards will fight you if you attack someone, and yet anyone else

This mods aims to even things up a little bit. Anytime you are in combat
with an NPC, and you did not initiate the fight, the guards will come to

6. CONFLICTS

*****************************************************************

I have tried to avoid any conflicts with any common mods. I may have missed something
here or there, if I did please let me know!

This will work with MCA added guards. It's not guaranteed to make all MCA guards
fight though. Any guard class that has an actual name will not come to your aid, so
Abot's MCA Guards patch will still be useful if you use it.

It should also work with any other mod added guards as long as they have an identifiable
word such as "guard," "ordinator," "legionary," etc in their name.

Please reports any bugs or problems at http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/downloads.php?view=bug_tracker

7. THANKS

*****************************************************************

Too many right now. Still compiling the list.
But to start it off:

claudekennilol: Suggested this idea on the TES Forums
ps33: Always my scripting mentor. While having nothing directly to do with this mod, nevertheless I would not

have known how to use MWSE without his infinite patience and support.
FreshFish: For giving us MWSE.
CDCooley: For continuing the support of MWSE
Bryss Phoenix: As always, infinite support and patience!
AfroKing, Kukaahinui, elipopotam, matilija, and especially Bycote for reporting the incompatability
with NazoX9's Guard Mod.
Everybody else who has always been supportive of modders in general.

I think I managed to make them stop attacking those who are casting restoration spells on the player. All of the tests I've done have been successful. :hehe:

IIRC, I tested this once, and the guards attacked when they saw Comes-by-road cast a healing spell on me. Is this to be expected?

It was not planned, but it happened. This update should have resolved that.

It should work with TR so long as the guards have something like Guard or Ordinator in their name. And make sure you have the newest version I just released here.

Well, I haven't played Morrowind enough to notice this issue yet. But now I know I won't encounter it! Thanks :)

Guards not defending the player is one of the most annoying flaws of Morrowind. Many thanks for this fundamental plugin. :)
