Could Canada be a possible location?

Post » Mon Jan 10, 2011 11:04 am

so I was on a cross country road trip this summer and during the drive i thought about a fallout game based in the north. I think Canada had lots of potential for a fallout game just think; Winds and water currents brought the radiation north from states eradiating the area. American occupation forces(possibly Enclave stylized) slowly depleting in moral try to hold there ground and maintain an iron grip as the Resistance try to rid Canada of an American oppression. With the activation of the purifier canada has the chance to purify there fresh water lakes. the brotherhood of steel from the Chicago detachment start to head north into Canada in search of more Tech. An Angry Gual looking to avenge his brother who was executed by the ocupation force before the war (the guy in the artical).

Possible factions:
- Canadian Separatist group (negative Karma) : will stop at nothing to eliminate the Occupation force. (much like a raider Faction)

- Canadian Peoples army (Positive Karma) : Want to Free Canada but are more passive and organized, (descendants of the Canadian armed forces) (stylized after WW2 Canadian soldiers)

- American Enclave Occupation force : They are Trying to Keep control of The area at all cost (however due to the Fallout and the loss of communication to the mainland Enclave moral is low and some of the members are starting to give up and splinter off

- The Brotherhood of steel (Chicago detachment) : looking for tech

- Citizens : having mixed feelings for the Factions

- aboriginals: some neutral and some against the occupation

you could find beasts like the Sasquatch, or a wolverine in place of the death claws, Giant beaver (saber tooth even)
Play hockey as a mini game. go hunting in the frozen forests ect.

Fight for the control of the tundra's waste's as you Join the resistance and help liberat Canada, or help the occupation and destroy the hope of the Canadians.....

war, war never changes

Caps would not be nuka cola caps, but caps from bottles of maple syrup? :P

Original games were made by a west coast based company, and they took place on the west coast. Bethesda is a maryland based company, and Fallout 3 is set in DC. So... maybe if bioware made an installment?

Future Fallouts could have Canadian locations in the game like locations in BC or Yukon if they have a game taking place in Alaska. I just don't see a fallout talking place in Canada. America annexed Canada (Canada voted to join the USA) but they were not losing moral. They sent in powered armoured troops to stop any resistance.

If they make another game with the Midwestern BoS I would like to see some locations in Canada or at least more mentions of it.

Yes i know that but when i said slowly depleting in moral i meant after the bombs fell (just think being cut off from your homeland i think moral of the people still loyal will be lowering... especially if there's a rebellion)..... for Canada voting to be annexed, myself as a Canadian, I will call BS on the voting to be annexed, because most people i know who are Canadians take pride in not being American..... And could the American government have lied about the vote to make it seem like they were not a in the wrong.... it could be propaganda to make them look like good guys... so i think they should make a game that could explain more on both sides of the story (or at least a DLC then)

A couple of things here. Canada did Vote to be Annexed it's fallout canon.

"Fallout Sierra Depot GNN Transcript holodisk: Transcript of Broadcast February 14, 2075

History was made today as Canada, by popular demand of its citizens, agreed to be annexed by the US. The President is quoted as saying, "Canada is one of the world's greatest sources of hockey players" and will be a welcome addition to the U.S. In return, sources say Canada will receive a full 10% of the world's remaining supply of oil, controlled exclusively by the US, as well as a 50% reduction in taxes since they now fall under US tax laws."

Fallout has the 1950's mindset and during the 1950's Canada was a big friend with America. The "I am not American" Ideals of Canada today came during the 1960's.

Canada would have been nuked to hell like the rest of the world. Canada would not be left untouched. The idea of PA wearing American troops that lived through the Great War becoming warlords in Canada sounds interesting.

I hope that a DLC will introduce us to Canada (something big like Point Lookout), but not a full game. Canadians don't deserve that XD

1. No I'm not denying that there was a vote in the game I'm just saying what if it was just propaganda or the vote was rigged... because in another post "why Canada"(i believe you where in that to) the US was a master at lying to its people.....
2.As for the Canadian mindset Canada felt the most "I am not american (or british)" after WW1 at Vimy ridge (i believe).... but otherwise i guess you're right
3.I agree Canada's major cities would have been bombed the hell out of, but Canada has a lot of towns and open land (we are the 2nd biggest country after all)

There could have been propaganda that most canadians were for it. Chances are we were given two options by the USA. "Let us annex you or we will bomb every major city and invade." To save the most lives we would have gone with the vote.

Canada would make a good setting for future locations. Are major cities gone, smaller towns and settlements destroyed by nuclear winter. American amy soldiers with their PA sent to pacify canada end up becoming warlords or slavers controlling what resources Canada had left that America wanted in the first place.

good point

that is what i was trying to say (somewhat) but i want an option to play with a Canadian faction or a rebellion (possibly stylized like WW2 Canadians :) )
