Your attributes are strength and endurance but you have no major skills for strength and only one that falls under Endurance? Wouldn't it be better to have intelligence/willpower? The classical mage combination? I'm also not getting armorer without any blade/blunt/marksman/heavy armor/light armor skill. Unless you're planning on controlled leveling and not using any of those skills in which case I'd recommend Athletics to be left out because you're forced to use that by any walking/running.

As best I recall (it's been over two years) this is almost exactly like Severus Snape. I play dead-is-dead and when he died, we had been adventuring together for more than 700 hours (closer to 800.) I called his custom class 'Alchemist' but everything else looks the same. Severus was a very complex character who hid his true nature behind a show of cynicism and brooding anger. Deep down, he wanted to be accepted and liked.

No melee skills?
No armor skill?

Why even have armorer as a major if you don't use weapons or armor?

I don't get why these are 'the coolest' skills in game....

Archery and Sneak are cool, e.g.

I don't see what's particularly cool about mercantile either. When's the last time there was a suited salesman at your door and you were like "Woah, that guy is so bad-ass with his briefcase, and his necktie..." :P

Edit: But to their defense; http://ui23.gamespot.com/406/hmbgallerywall031024x768_2.jpg

So you're going to have a character that levels hella fast, if you use Alchemy at all. Mercantile also increases pretty quickly, iirc - I've never actually used it for anything, tbh. I'd definitely spend some money on decent spells if I were you, because you're going to have a horrible time with enemies if you use Alchemy at all and don't keep Destruction (your only offensive skill, btw) up to the same standard. Which will be hard.

And spring for a good Invisibility spell early on. At least you'll be able to run away when you meet enemies you're not able to deal with. :P

I'm going to disagree with some of the above advice. I think this build can be an absolute winner, if developed as either a melee type or as a stealth type.

This character will be difficult for the first couple of levels, until you get blade and armor raised up, but will level slowly, which is good, as long as you don't actually use the alchemy for a while. Get your combat skills up, along with your strength and endurance, before you start using any of the major magic skills.

The only thing I might do is change the specialization to Combat, which would allow those combat minors to develop quicker. Doing so will not reduce the level of the majors by all that much, but will make the build more balanced. (It will also get your armorer to Journeyman quicker, which allows you to repair enchanted stuff. Armorer should be the only one of your majors that you would intentionally raise.)

Disection is in order...

Race: Imperial
for some reason I like the look of the Imperial and though he isnt the best statistically, this is what I like playing. I chalk racial selection up to aesthetic.

Birthsign: Atronach
I simply believe that this is the best birthsign in the game.

Specialization: Magic
Of every specialization in the game, Magic skills are all useful. In Combat you recieve bonuses to Blade and Blunt for example. I usually choose just one of the two to use so that leave the other pointless. I chose the Magic specialization because I actually use every magic skill in the game.

Attributes: Endurance, Strength
Early Endurance is important do to the way endurance exponentially effects the game. Strength allows me to carry more things and take advantage of the bartering skills.

Skills:
Alchemy
I firmly believe this is the single most useful skill in the game. You can use it for anything and at high levels it is simply gamebreakingly strong.

Armorer
This is addition by subtraction I enjoy all weapons and armors. So Rather than prioritize them with Majors I chose just one Major skill that will allow me to keep all of them in top condition. Its globally beneficial.

Athletics
Increased movement speed is always welcome.

Conjuration
In my opinion this is the coolest skill in the game, its just awesome to summon monsters, weapons, and armor out of thin air.

Destruction
The best offense in the game, and who doesnt like throwing storms at the opposition?

Illusion
Invisiblity, Command spells, and other bonuses.

Merchantile
Slowest leveling skill in the game, and globally useful. The skill boosts are most usefull early in the game anyway so from the get go I can buy better spells and equipments. (Seriously this skill does rock just a lot of people forgo the bartering system... USE IT.

I don't think he cares. Maybe he just wants to scrap the Oblivion leveling restrictions and just go with what he wants.
Oh yes, and as you said something about having armourer but no weapon or armour skills, what about a blacksmith?
You might have an exceptionally skilled blacksmith. He can repair or make any weapon or armour imaginable.
He doesn't have to be able to USE the weapon.
Or maybe its for loot purposes. Loot better repaired sells for more after all.

If ZakariusSvedlin doesn't want opinions about the build (or doesn't care about them even if they're offered), why is he posting this on the forums in the first place? Juuust wondering.

I think he's having fun. That's what we're all here for, right?

Besides, we all know that he'll be starting some other character a couple of days from now, anyway.

Any build can be a winner, as anyone even with blade and illusion as poor minors can develop them to be 100 (which I personally think is a game design flaw) and be as good a swordsman and illusionist as a build with said skills as majors.

Anyone with time, pls try this:

Race: ...
Class: svcker
Skills: Speech, Merc, Athlet, Secur, Alteration, Armorer, Acrob

- Wield a Blade;
- Cast Invisibility;
- Run;
- Talk to people
- Sell stiff
- Level up

yes, no +5 multipliers, but do that, enchant things, etc... I bet you wont even have to put difficulty bar to the left.

Errr.... Did you not just post a thread "My long-term character"?

Though compared to your previous 3 dozen chaps this would be what, 5 weeks? Ha ha ha (nothing wrong, just funny).

Well the thing is now I got games that I play outside oblivion like Black Ops and Dragon Age, so at the very least this character will last longer for that reason.
