Fallout Based in Central Texas?

Post » Thu Jan 13, 2011 8:40 am

I was just wondering if anyone else has thought of this?

I live about 10 minutes from the largest military base in the United States (Fort Hood) and I've always thought; wouldn't that be one of the first places to be bombed? I mean, it's huge and is a big deal for enemy forces. Anyways, I think that because of the diversity of people and places in Central Texas, it would be a great setting for a Post-Apocalyptic War. Does anyone else agree?

Part of the reason why I love Fallout, is the conservative/libertarian type of atmosphere and characters, and the rugged individualism. This would probably be enhanced it it was set in the great state of Texas. So, I approve. :)

If they do it right I would love to see a Fallout take place in Texas again. Sad to say there is a Fallout that takes place in Texas it's called http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Fallout:_Brotherhood_of_Steel.

I want Texas to be what it has been described as in other fallouts "A big radioactive dust bowl."

So in other words, there hasn't been a Fallout game set in Texas? Also, I would like a fallout game set in Texas, I think it would be interesting.

Reference to the fact that Fallout:BOS is hated so much by the Fallout fanbase that some mates won't even accept the fact that it exists.

I own every Fallout game ever made (1, 2, 3, Tactics, and :gulp: Brotherhood of Steel).

Brotherhood of Steel broke many lore laws (a ghoul in the Brotherhood of Steel? Ghouls being zombies that fall apart? Harold that has limbs that fall off?)

Brotherhood of Steel was a dissapointment. I'd recommend you not play it, friend. Get a mod, but leave BoS alone.

I've agreed before and i will again so here's my copy-paste from the recommend a location thread(included a quote from CBManson):

I posted this before, but figured I should say it here; Central Texas.

Central Texas boasts the largest U.S. Army base with several cities around it. That being said, there is still plenty of areas that are open fields. The amount of cattle in the area would make for a great Brahmin (or another new cattle like animal) trade area.

Also, considering the fact that it is the largest military base, there could be a new faction Or perhaps the Enclave? They would fit right in at this area, considering their love of abandoned armed forces bases. Further more, considering the amount of hospitals in the area, there could be a big quest involving them. There are four, one on the base, one near the base, and two on the other side of town. Recently, the largest hospital took over the other two that are off base, but they still function as separates. Anyways, I felt it as a good idea because of the base itself.

The BoS (or again, a new faction) could use the hospitals as bases. I would also like to see a civil war between the smoothskins and the Ghouls. That would give the PC a great chance to choose sides. And maybe give the PC a way to become a Ghoul? That would be fun. My good character, Katrina, let the Ghouls into Tenpenny Tower and over all, never killed anyone other than a hostile feral. My evil character, Hoenheim, however is a Ghoul exterminator. I haven't gotten him to Underworld yet, as I just started him but when I do, I will clean the place out.

Sorry for the stray from the topic there. But anyways, what do you guys think?
Personally, being from Belton, I think that would be really cool to explore where I've lived my entire life. They could include one of the lakes too as they're mainly owned by Ft. Hood.(well belton lake at least)
