Something you could add to the GECK wiki

Post » Fri Jan 14, 2011 7:08 pm

See this page

http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/GetUsedItemActivate

and how it doesnt seem to know what GetUsedItemLevel is for ( http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php?title=GetUsedItemLevel&action=edit&redlink=1 )

If getuseditemlevel is zero, I think it means the item is sitting on the ground.

I can see this because with the animation "LoosePickUpGroundObject", this being zero is a condition. There is no condition on its sister animation, "LoosePickUpTableObject".

But the game can't differentiate between an item resting on the ground, and resting on the table. I think this value being zero is useless and does actually matter.

huh I don't understand.

By whatever means it derives it, this value being zero means the NPC is looting an object that is at ground level. The zero may be relative to the NPC, I don't really know. But I know there are 2 grab animations, one for higher up and one for on the ground and this is what makes the NPC pick one animation or the other.

I'd like to contribute something that isn't added in the wiki yet:

fDamageToArmorPercentagefDamageToWeaponEnergyMultfDamageToWeaponGunMultfDamageToWeaponLauncherMultfDamageToWeaponMeleeMult

These all affect how fast an equipped item takes durability 'damage'. A higher number will result in the item breaking sooner, where as a value of 0.000000 means the item will never reach breaking point. Weapons fall into the following categories:

Armor: Ie. Any Helmet or Vest
Energy: Ie. Laser Pistol, Laser Rifle, Plasma Pistol, Plasma Rifle
Gun: Ie. Pistol, Hunting Rifle, Combat Shotgun, Minigun
Launcher: Ie. Missile Launcher, Fatman
Melee: Ie. Combat Knife, Police Baton, Sledgehammer

I'm sure you're right that it's simply relative to the NPC in question, because that makes the most sense in this situation, and it's what the http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/GetUsedItemLevel implies. If you can confirm its usage, go ahead and add the page.

Well, here is the page where that information would belong: http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/Settings

If you're fairly sure about it, check the talk page for recommendations on how to format things on that page, and add it.

I don't edit that WIKI. I'd sooner let the Wiki People (whoever those mysterious people are) take care of it.

I made an account but couldnt figure out how to edit anything.

My edits would look like because I'm always in a hurry to do something else::

Hey!!!! Here's what this does!! blah blah blah

kthxbye

I'm exactly the same way, I have info to share but don't want to risk breaking anything! :) I posted my suggestion in the discussion page without deleting everything else so there's a start, but that's about as far as I want to go.

Hey, if you've got something to add, add it. I've added 3 or 4 things to the wiki. Its not rocket science. Just follow the existing nomenclature and you be fine. You can always undo your edits and re-edit over and over until you get it right. That's how I do it anyway. :)

pkleiss is completely right. I know that a couple of people, including me, have a look at all changes made to the wiki, so if anything you add or change needs some cleaning up we'll be able to help with that. The important thing is to make the information available in the first place, so if you know something that should be on the wiki, please feel free to add it in.
