When to do the DLC

Post » Sun Jan 16, 2011 1:26 pm

Hello,

I have finished up the main story line and only thing I have left is the finale, my question is should I do all the DLC before I do the finale and if so, in which order or does it matter?

I know the first time I played it my character sacrificed himself, if I do that, how can you play the DLC?

Thanks

Had you activated Broken Steel from the start? If so I'm assuming you're probably around level twenty, or perhaps higher. It won't really matter which order you do the DLC in as you're probably powerful enough to have an easier time of it with all of them in any order. I generally do The Pitt and Point Lookout quite early, around level eight to ten-ish. Then Operation: Anchorage and then Mothership Zeta, and I leave Broken Steel's quest last.

Spoiler
Doing Operation: Anchorage early can tempt you into using the Chinese Stealth Armour, especially on Mothership Zeta, but I'd avoid doing that as it'll make everything far too easy. Avoid it across all the DLC if you wanna really experience them. Heh.

Spoiler
If you sacrifice your character, he will survive the ordeal and wake up in the Citadel infirmary two weeks after the Project Purity mission. The same thing happens if Sarah Lyons bites the bullet. The explosion at Jefferson renders you both unconscious.

I'd do them all in order. Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, then the MQ (don't worry you can still sacrifice yourself) and move on to BS, and then do the rest. The way the DLC was released chronologically makes it seem like that's how it should be done anyways.

Never really looked at it this way before, good idea may try it on my next playthrough.

Operation Anchorage and The Pitt can be done at any time and have some nice benefits, main one from the pit is that you can convert any small arms and minigun ammo into another, very nice if you use .44 a lot. Mother ship zeta give you some cool powerful weapons however the alien weapons has limited ammo. You also get a epoxy to fix hard to repair weapons so it would be stupid to do it as the last thing in the game. perhaps do it around level 20. I would also do point lookout then you start getting problems with the very tough broken steel enemies as it has to perks who boost the effect from automatic weapons. It would probably unbalance the game to do it to early.

I always try to do OA as soon as possible, mainly for the Covert Ops perk and weapons/armour rewards. Nice little boost early on in the game. Then I do The Pitt a little while later, Point Lookout when I'm around level 20ish, and finally MZ. So yeah, pretty much in the order they came out.

If you're level twenty surely you should have max Repair anyway? Suppose it depends which weapons you're using, but I've never had a problem with weapon condition whether concentrating on Energy, Small or Big Gun category. Alien Blaster, and other other Alien weapons might need it, but Wolfgang repairs to a decent degree. I've never used an Epoxy tube. Not even to test it. lol

What's the second Perk? Superior Defender increases damage output but only if you're standing still. Ghoul Ecology helps with Reavers but the benefits against regular Ghouls are marginal because Ghouls are so weak anyway. I don't see how it can unbalance anything. It's hard to come by a challenge early in the game, Point Lookout provides a decent one for low level characters. IMO :)
