Oblivion on laptop - possible?

Post » Wed Jan 19, 2011 1:33 am

Hello, I'm looking into the possibility of getting Oblivion for PC and playing it on my laptop. I have the Advent Roma 4001. I have heard that Oblivion will simply not play at a decent speed on some laptops. Can anyone tell me if my laptop will play it and if so what kind of issues might there be with performance. Thanks.

Here's a dxdiag:

Yes. I play Oblivion on the laptop. And your laptop seems good enough to me. I think it's better than mine.

No, not on your laptop.

You have a chipset, you need a video card in its own right.

The Intel Integrated Graphic Chipset you have is simply just weak. Oblivion won't play out of the box with most of them and may work with Oldblivion, which is a shader downgrade mod. If yours happens to run the game, then it will pretty much crawl performance-wise. If you haven't bought it yet, I'd say it wouldn't be worth it.
