Is there a better map system?

While we're on the subject, is there any mod that removes the aspect of the world map where I have to visit each cell before it becomes detailed? I have always hated that, because I never ever visit the whole of Vvardenfell with one character, so sooner or later my map looks like a swiss cheese, which isn't aesthetically pleasing. And since I've visited each cell at some point in my gaming career, I feel I have a right to see the whole map by now!

Yeah, there is a console command to toggle the fog of war on the map.

ToggleFogOfWar or TFOW Turns the fog of war in the automap display on and off. Useful for taking screenshots of complete maps with no ‘black’ areas in them.

I found that http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Console.

That's only for the Local Map I believe.
The World Map requires that you actually visit the cell.

Although you can use the console command http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Console to show all the towns on the world map. Not quite what Fearabbit is after though.

IIRC, each time you add a mod that alters a particular cell then that cell reverts to its default brown colour on the world map.

Isn't http://www.morrowind-oblivion.com/interactive_map.php what the OP is talking about?

Maybe one could make a texture replacer for that default brown world map? Hmm...

If someone does it has to stay at 256x256 resolution, otherwise it will cause problems with the in-game map.
