This was basically an idea I came up with a while back.
I would like imput on it before I even start it though.
The Niben bay, home of many a strange tale. Home of pirates and merchants, a beautiful place aside from the dangers of the deep?
Even with the emperor's death, and the gates of oblivion being shut, the Niben bay is full of trade and mystery. Even with the shivering isles, and the decline of sea life, the bay is home to sea farers from near and far. Recently though, a new gate has opened. A gate unlike any other seen before?
The gate seems to be impenetrable, but pirates and merchants from another world seem to come out of it all the time. One unfortunate victim was a pirate who went by Migs?
His race is unknown, but he managed to pick up the common language of the citizens of Cyrodiil rather quickly. The closest race to him would be an imperial according to the locals, but he claims to be something called a "human." He wears the typical outfit of a pirate, but carries a strange weapon he calls a "gun."
Migs typically hangs out at the lonely suitor lodge, and isn't very fond of the "cat and lizard pests" as he calls them. He spends what little gold he manages to earn on the now popular drink in Cyrodiil, rum, and when he isn't drunk, he tells stories about his past adventures!
Towns and geographical areas of the province:
With pirates and their powerful weaponry containing limited ammo coming into Cyrodiil at breakneck paces, conflicts are bound to erupt! That's just what is happening too, more and more citizens are joining the guard in order to keep the menace away from their towns. Unfortunately not all places were ready for these lawless, good hearted beings invading. While some places have remained lawful under the protection of the guard and imperial legions, others have become the home of the pirates.
Key: P=in pirate hands, L=in the law's hands, B=battlefield where laws are enforced but pirates are invading/migrating to the area. red=heavily fortified with pirates, green=heavily fortified with legions/gaurds
Bravil: P
Bravil was probably the first town to be influenced by pirates. At first it was the occasional person being arrested for assault, but it soon grew out of hand.
After the murder of Gellius and Regulus Terentius, the gaurd abandoned their posts. Soon afterwards, Bravil became a pirate town. They established guidelines to keep it from becoming a battle for dominance over the city, and merchants could find wealth in its walls along with smiths who learned to produce the balls of metal and black powder required to power the close range weaponry (revolvers/pistols/rifles) that had become famous for their ability to kill.
Leyawiin: P
Leyawiin was marked as pirate infested by the empire, but is considered the only settlement to establish a working trade route and deals between pirates and locals. Soon after Count Marius dissapeared, Alessia married a pirate who went by Bron Gane. (pronounced brawn gain) They seem to have an unsteady relationship at first glance, but everyone living in the castle would agree that the sounds coming from their room would prove otherwise. (*wink wink*) Argonians are prohibited from entering the city and are to be executed on sight...
Chorrol: B
Arriana's relationship with her daughter, Alessia, has caused a migration of pirates to appear... These pirates don't seem to be as bad tempered, but are extremely untrustworthy at the same time. What is the future of Chorrol? That is to be found out.
Anvil: L
Even with Anvil being so close to water, it doesn't seem to be in danger of pirate invasion as it is no where near a gate. The population has grown though as citizens of Skingrad take up residence with the Pirate forces so close...
Skingrad: L
With the spread of Piracy from Bravil to Chorrol, Skingrad believes itself to be in danger, and the gaurd has become the town basically. Anyone with unlawful intent will find themselves in danger of being caught fairly quickly...
Bruma/Cheydinhal: L
Both seem to be in no immidiate danger and go about their normal buisness though rumors spread about how they should travel to the Imperial City... The dark brotherhood is still at large in Cheydinhal again, and seem to want to start a war against the pirates in Bravil that desecrate the lucky old lady statue with their booze and such...
Imperial City: B
The Imperial City is in a state of emergency as the Pirates seem to gather here.
The mage guild seems to have taken an oath to kill all pirates after they [censored] and murdered what was rumored to be the next Arch Mage...
Gunfire and Magic are common here in the city, and anyone in their right mind who isn't a pirate or mage has made their way out of the city, or into the palace where the imperial gaurd stand watch day and night, using the basemant as a temporary prison...
(Hint hint, faction war between mages and pirates)
Guns: Guns are to be used RPly. A pistol cannot break through heavy plate mail, and it is unlikely that someone will be wearing heavy plate mail in the first place. At very close ranges, the gunpowder will singe clothes and burn flesh.
We are talking guns from between the 1600s and 1800s, so the maximum range for a small gun is probably 100 feet, and the max range for a rifle is probably around 150-200 feet. (they could go farther, but will lose the effectiveness after that far more then likely from what I know about old firearms?)
Special guns are to be approved as they come along. It is unlikely you will get your http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LeMat_Revolver but at the same time perfectly fine if you just ask for a revolver with 20 bullets or something along those lines.
Magicka: Pirates don't have any affinity with magicka and are unlikely to be able to use it. Period.
You must be at least a journeyman in armouror to produce your own bullets.
When you use a bullet, please keep track of it, even if that means having an OOC ammunition left line after every shot you make.
