Real Time Settler Question

Post » Sun Jan 23, 2011 9:38 pm

Ok so after getting irritated with it and deleting it, ive began to think on redownloading it to give it another shot. before i do however, hers my questions-

What should I do first?
Wheres a good spot to start?
How long will it take to make something that looks decent?
And a question from when I first tried this- why do the villagers stand around and do nothing all day when I assigned them jobs?

I did exactly what you did, i started, got to the searching part then quit. started again, cheated for like 50 shopping carts...and im glad i did, after that point its a lot more fun, if you try it again save often, there were tons of times when i placed something in a specific spot then added stuff around it just to realize it looked dumb and restart all over again. just a suggestion, what i did (after getting the idea from someone else) is i opened up the construction set and moved the majority of the cars and train pieces in the scrapyard around to make a wall around it (didnt feel right deleting them all because it brought up the question of why the scrapyard would be empty XD) then i started building my town near the entrance and eventually expanded it throught the scrapyard (plus there are a lot of rubble piles around for supplies :D) also to answer your other question... hate to assume stuff but if they are a crafter or a builder then they will just hang out until they have a job to do, if they are a searcher then...no clue XD that happened to me to but they still found time to supply me with material so i didnt complain lol.

P.S. dont get discouraged if it doesnt look too good from the start, mine stunk until i used metal plates to fill in the openings on the shelter that i didnt like.

Hmmm...I deleted it because it wouldn't let you go away and level up while your village was growing (well, it would if they had enough food, but in the end I had like 4 farmers, 1 soldier, and 1 guy digging for material.

I'm tempted to download it again soon though, and just get the base ID's for exploded cars, and trolleys so I can build my village up QUICKLY :P

I'd say a good place to build your village would be around the Republic of Dave. I mean, you already have a couple of buildings, and then you just need to kill all the advlts, and you have your central HQ, just setownership on the beds, and everything inside, and then deactivate all the children so they don't appear anymore, maybe even move some more buildings there (I never was sure HOW to actually do this, but its worth a shot).

Alternatively you COULD set up in Old Olney if you fancy a challenge....But I'm not sure how long your village would last...OO ooo or Grayditch AFTER the quest there

Bad times...

I just reinstalled RTS, set up a Village in the Republic of Dave (after killing everyone, and disabling the children)...and now my game seems to crash every 10 minutes...stupid mod.

Although it has been quite fun, I think its finally time to give this one up for good :(
