As far as I know you need this pips for your class special ability like heal someone, or throw ammo to some one, buff any weapon...

It's a measurement term. Sort of like a heart in Zelda.

a pip is a little section of your health that is added on after a medic buffers your health

It isn't just that. It's already been answered pretty well by others in this thread.

To go with Buckshot's example of Zelda, imagine the green mana bar from Ocarina of Time. Now imagine that same bar, but divided into four or so sections by vertical bars. Each of those sections would be a pip.

Also depending on which body type you use determines the amount of pips you get.

Comparable to Shadowrun's essence. How Dwarves have the most, Elves's second most, Human's third, and trolls least amount.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Your bar will, but your pips wont. You put it better.

Actually I think the sections after the main bar will also refill, but only if they're partially empty. Like if you lose one pip and then half a pip, the half pip will recharge, but the empty pip will stay empty.

Ooh, I wonder what the HUD looks like now? Just a few more days until we find out, hopefully!

the Medic has an active ability called Life Buff. Life Buff 1 adds one pip. Also, the universal ability "Battle Hardened" adds one pip while selected as a passive ability.

Amount of pips is determined by body size, not by class. The bigger you are, the more pips you get.

No class bound extra life, but as medic you can keep buffing yourself (costs more pips and gives less XP)
