[REQ] Immersive NPC Resurrect

Post » Tue Jan 25, 2011 12:15 pm

We say it in real life... "I would give anything to have them back...."

So, would you be willing to really give up everything?

I'm looking for a mod that would do just that. Remove your owned homes, possessions etc in order to
resurrect a companion or any NPC.

Else, if that is too hardcoe... Perhaps a very very high gold amount to performs such a miracle.
Although, you can't really put a price on life... So this seems less immersive IMO.

At the least, a players inventory should be cleaned out in order to resurrect someone. This should include
the gold they have on them. I suppose someone could just store things away in a chest before performing
the resurrect, but that is up to them to kill the immersive aspect.

Any thoughts?

EDIT - This is really for players in mind that really like to play in a Survival of the Fittest environment where all NPCs are non-essential and are flagged as quest items.

From an evil standpoint, you could technically sell your soul to the DB or something along those lines... Not sure how to represent that in game, but that could be an interesting twist. Perhaps by selling your soul, you automatically become a wanted criminal and all NPC disposition towards you drops to zero? IDK, just thinking out loud. Where the heck is everybody on these forums these days?

That's far too hard core for me, but I am using a Resurrect spell because with FCOM innocents tend to get killed and I feel bad about it. But I'd like the Resurrect spell to be harder to get as the current one I'm using doesn't even cost anything and is available from the start. I was thinking a quest rather to obtain the spell.

Hmm, well there is this mod that sorta adds a quest... http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8428

Thanks for the tip, but before my char is at Master Conjuration it would be far too late for the poor fellows outside the Skingrad walls.

Currently I am creating a game centered around the idea that all NPCs (minus bandits etc...) will be non-essential and flagged as quest items.
For the dead I will be burying them using this mod... http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4619

There are various tombs and coffins to use with that mod, so it will make for a more immersive burial for more important NPCs...
I just thought there should be larger consequences involved when resurrecting the dead. I mean, that is pretty much the biggest miracle in the world.

@Arkngt - True, didn't think of that part.

I made a thread in the Lore forum about http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1059319-resurrection/page__p__15378899__fromsearch__1&#entry15378899 when I thought about perhaps making a mod around obtaining a spell. Some interesting info there, at least for me who don't study lore at all.

That would make the game more realistic... I wish you could also threaten people or something as well... I have tried to use Mods but I am always afraid they will wreck my computer or something...

Great discussion you linked to. Much deeper in lore terms than anything here. Although it would be great to base from lore. IDK, for me I just was thinking of some NPC character within Cyrodiil/Oblivion that would own this power of resurrection. And the only way to have one of your companions or random NPC folk resurrected is by bringing the body to this being/person to perform the resurrection, but at an extreme cost. Or, you visit this being/person and are granted the spell or scroll based on a hefty sacrifice on your part. The being/person of course can be lore based, but I don't know enough about lore to offer opinions there. Since many folks spoke of Daedric powers in the link you posted, it would make more sense for the quest to obtain resurrection to take place within the Oblivion realm.

Perhaps a permanent stat reduction for each resurrection you carry out? The cost would increase with each performance. It'd have to be something substantial, like losing 10 points in something.

I think that's good option as well. Your character would be giving up a piece of themselves in order to give life to another. Makes sense. Maybe not lore based, but I like it.
