BOS.Exec problem

Post » Thu Jan 27, 2011 6:40 am

1. While I'm playing FO: Tactics on my Laptop after a couple of hours I get a BOS.exec problem has occured and it shuts the game down.
2. I had something similar on the PC (Yipe I'm playing it twice on two different machines), the PC screen went blank and shut down completely.
3. Also I couldn't transfer over my save via Memory Stick to my Laptop, it wouldn't read the save I had just copied over, any reason why.

Any thoughts or patches that have to be installed or is there another solution? Tactics, what a game :)

I'm afraid I can not help you with this one it's been a while since I've installed the 3 tictacs cdroms. I'm still occupied playing through FO2's massive restoration project.

Anyways... here you'll find most of the patches for tictacs: http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=category&cat_id=20

Basically a mod restoring all the content that was left out when BlackIsle released FO2.

*Edit* There are a few major changes however in the latest version of FO2RP 2.1 compared to FO2RP 1.2, especially the EPA map/quests.

I started out with 1.2 + updates and now I'm busy completing 2.1. Ahh, I'm almost there... I'm finally in San Fransisco now after spending almost a week of gaming. Luckely, there is no walkthrough for the latest restoration project, yet. So I have spent a lot of time figuring out the new EPA and Primitive Tribe content. Although the Tribe content was fairly easy, took only 1/2 hour maybe. Normally Fallout explains itself a bit but the EPA map was like what the hell am I supposed to do here?! EPA was like a giant puzzle but lots of fun however. Meanwhile I'm waiting for Killap's update coz there is a major bug in NCR fighting Lenny. Oh well... it's not a game-breaking quest or anything just an annoying crash preventing me from fighting him. So far Killap has done a magnificent job. I didn't encounter too many bugs, it's worth every minute to play FO2RP... enjoy! :)

Completing FO2 Vanilla and knowledge about the game mechanics is recommendable before diving into this adventure.

Really! Was there much as of gameplay, like how many hours were left out????? And will these MODs corrupt my saves?

I have to look up what BlackIsle left out specifically due to the release deadline.

It were certain characters, quests (finding Sulik's sister for example) and maps like EPA, Primitive Tribe home of Sulik (near Great Salt Water), The Abbey, etc.

Most of it is described in this link:

http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Killap%27s_Fallout_2_Restoration_Project

Or

This walkthrough *** Contains Spoilers!!! ***

http://numerometria.com/F2RP_WT.htm

But like I said it differs between FO2RP versions. The older restoration project was closer to the original content while the latest has a undergone a few changes. For example: in the original content there was a mad scientist in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) while in the latest version he was left out because Killap thought it was a bit silly I presume. Whatever...

And they made a couple of NPC changes like female children, NPC's show the armor they're wearing, you can choose a long haired dude as a character and much more. Just install it to check it all out.

As for your save games: No they will not work, you'll have to start over from a fresh installation. Although you can back'm up so you can keep your saves for when you want to play FO2 Vanilla again. They are located in the fallout2 DATA folder (copy/past all slots for later use). It doesn't matter however my advice is: start over to fully enjoy the FO2RP content.

Oh, all patches are included btw so no need to install a dozen different patches like the High res patch etcetera and you'll get Timeslip's useful in-game tweak (sfall) that improves the game mechanics: You can speed up time by pressing Ctrl + 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 and locate items on the ground by pressing left shift for example. And if you really want to tweak the game check out the ddraw.ini file.

Well I'm leaving San Fransisco to resume my quest for the Holy G.E.C.K. my people are starving. :)

Great stuff, thanx, I'll delve into it a little deeper next week, nearly hometime and then off to Ballycastle for the weekend at my Sisters flat for her b/day and the Lamas Fair up there on Monday Tues. unfortunately no internet connection at her flat for us, but plenty of gaming and then some... Have a good weekend :) Ta Joe.
