MGE and horizon/sky

Post » Fri Jan 28, 2011 1:50 pm

Hello, I'm wondering how to get the sky immediately above the horizon to show colors and not fog.

Well, first maybe I should ask if that's normal in the blighted isles.

I installed MGE and turned on the shaders with HDR and bloom, but I'm still seeing the fog unless I angle up my view. Does distant lands need to be installed?

When I saw the screenshots here: http://www.yacoby.net/es/forum/12/8261311206644160.html

for example http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i201/Vality7/Screenshots/mge02.jpg

they don't mention distant lands, only Shaders - Bloom/HDR/Tweaked Water Shader/IVD/Reflective Water.

In MGE I also increased my max zoom and tried fog on and off but that didn't make a difference. Do I need distant lands installed for this?

thanks in advance for any help.

Looking at the screenshots, I'm pretty sure they have been taken with Distant Land enabled.

There's definitely distant land there.

Still, http://www.tesnexus.com/imageshare/images/57416-1285330927.jpg The colour of the fog just depends on the time of the day and your weather colour settings. It usually gets more colourful at dawn and dusk.

IVD is Infinite View Distance. Original name for distant lands. Water shaders also need Distant lands to be activated.

Although the problem is still there with distant land on. For what you're describing, phal created a special atmospheric scattering shader.

These should be using that feature, I think.

Thanks for the tips!

I installed distant lands and it is wonderful! I was afraid it would bring my system to its knees but after reading a post somewhere that normally the vid card is underutilized in Morrowind I gave it a try.

Last question - what shaders do most of you use? I tried a few but can't find a good one that gives blue skies in the daytime -- it's always so bright it's white unless I look straight up in the sky. I also tried turning down the gamma in the game and my monitor brightness.

I'm using GIMP_HDRBloom_v1_2, but I actually like the colors better in BlurBloomHDR_v1, though the bloom and blur really annoy me so I don't use it. I tried the other stock shaders in MGE but they are all too bright.
