I am currently going through the db quest line, and want to name specific items that i take from victims. there is a certain quest where you must . the victim has a silver dagger that i wish to take and name after said victim, but when i try, all silver daggers get named. and then, when i load up my game, it reverts to the name 'silver dagger'.
any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: i forgot to mention, the naming was done via console

You could name the daggers through the enchantment altar. You could use a petty soul, thereby giving you access to the naming menu, without actually using it to fight, as the small amount of charges would be near useless.

Can you explain more? What do you mean all silver daggers get named?

Well, i had just named the dagger, and when i was doing the next quest, where you have to , the dagger on the table was named. not silver dagger, but ...'s ancestral dagger.

The reason i'm doing this is because my assassin likes to take items from his victims, and i prefer that they be named. but i can't seem to name and item without naming all items of the same kind. Since i can't enchant things like urns, this is making it very difficult since not everyone has a dagger laying about in their house.

You're right. If you rename an item, the new name will apply to all items of the same (previous) name. mpls Big Daddy is right that the enchanting altar is perhaps the best way to name a momento from your victims. Remember, any piece of apparel can be enchanted, so you can enchant their shirt or whatever and name it after them if you like. Lol. A collection of dead victims' shoes.

Yea. I kinda figured. ah well, glad i collected daggers i found in case it wasn't possible to rename specific items. i have a couple of enchanted daggers in display cases, as well as unique items from the quests. not rewards, but things like medicine, or a finger
