BB gun doesn't seem to chamber...

Post » Wed Feb 02, 2011 1:03 pm

My buddy bought me a spring loaded air soft 6mm bb gun for Christmas, I've never owned a bb gun but I do know how a pistol works so I loaded the magazine put it in but when I pull back the slide to chamber a bb the bb doesn't chamber. What am I failing to do here?

Kudos, How wonderfully appropriate considering the time of year. Yet at the same time very unhelpful. :stare:

I don't know crap about airsoft malfunctions, but if they work anything like the real thing I would suspect two things from the start;

1. Make sure weapon is clean and well lubed (including magazine).
3. Faulty tension spring in the magazine (either binding from material defect or lack of lube).

Did you make sure the spring in the magazine is pushing the column of BBs to the top?

Where is step #2?

Are you pulling the slide back all the way until you hear a click? Is there a BB jammed somewhere?

I'm pulling it back until my hand hurts... Is there any way for somebody with no airsoft knowledge such as myself to tell if there's a bb jammed?

Well, a BB may have been knocked out and gotten stuck somewhere.
But I could probably provide a bit more help if I had a photo.

This might sound silly, but have you shot the pistol yet? Is the safety off?

I can't shoot it without first chambering a bb which is where I'm having the problem. As for the safety the gun doesn't seem to have one, I've been looking for it but to no avail.

If you can, Try pulling the slide back and putting a BB in manually, and then closing the slide. If you can fire it after that, then there's a probably a problem with the plastic piece on the slide that pushes the BBs into the tube.

Also, did you read the enclosed instruction book, or is it functioning as a new coaster? :P

I'm not sure how I'd go about putting a bb in manually. Unfortunately the closest thing to a manual that came with it is a 3 step diagram of how the gun is used which is of no help.

Sorry, but I'm running out of ideas. I guess you could ask your buddy how to get it to chamber correctly, or maybe it's just defective
i'm correct in assuming that the gun is spring powered, right?

Moira only has a repair skill of 72% she couldn't possibly help, besides I've finally found and fixed the problem turns out I had 12 bb pellets when the clip only holds 11.

Look down the barrel and pull the trigger to see if there are any foreign objects in the barrel. Like a BB.

Seriously, just bring it to the store it was bought from. They should fix it for you. Did you RTFM?

Hey, just wondering, do battery-powered airsoft guns often shoot multiple bb's at once? Or is mine just a piece of crap?

Thanks Miles. I think before people start asking and suggesting stuff, without reading the whole topic, that has already been answered , and the OP has solved the problem, I had best just close this.
