I've just recently started playing RPG games about a year and a half ago. I started with Oblivion and played it to death and then I got Dragon Age and played it to death. Now I want to try something new. I adored Oblivion and Dragon Age. Would I like this game too?

FO3 and Oblivion are on the same engine so there is certainly a chance that you would like it .

Well the only difference to Oblivion is that FO3 is more like in the future, no mediaval style. Other than that it's similiar, i.e great conversations, freedom to do anything, atmosphere etc. If you like FPS games but with Oblivion style you will like this game.

Yea FO 3 and Oblivion are about the same but FO 3 doesn't have nearly as many quest so I would go with New Vegas instead.

If you do decided to get FO3 make sure its the GOTY edition it comes with all the expansions .

You'll love fallout 3. As mentioned above, get the "Game of the Year" (AKA GOTY) edition. You didn't mention Morrowind... so get that as well. I would also recommend the Fallout Trilogy (Available in a set, with Fallout 1, 2 and another in the fallout series. Fallout 3 is not in this). You'll probably spend about ~$60 on all that, and you'll get at least as much play time out of it as you have with Oblivion and Dragon Age combined (but probably more). Do you have the expansions for Oblivion?

I don't recommend Fallout New Vegas due to its incredibly intrusive DRM software, which requires online activation through Steam just to play it, even if you don't purchase it through Steam. Plus it requires you to go through Steam for updates, and other things as well. I returned my copy for a full refund because of all that BS. As for the rest of the fallout series (or ES series), though, they don't have any overly intrusive DRM or other ridiculous requirements and I highly recommend them all.

i think you will. no magic but a lot of weapons and armor to play around with. you can even make some custom weapons. get the game of the year edition, it is reasonably priced now.

Regardless of the fact that this thread is about if he would like Fallout 3 Morrowind is a completely different game from oblivion so make sure that if you do decide to read the article in The Elder Scrolls wiki about going from Oblivion to Morrowind.

Also regarding the Fallout Trilogy these three games are also very different from fallout 3 and also much harder.

I was always a major fan of Baldur's Gate and Morrowind. I'd play them all nonstop! A few years ago I heard of Fallout and didn't bother looking it up. I didn't know what all the hype was about. I can't remember how but I learned Fallout and Bethesda were connected. I realized Morrowind was made by Bethesda. So, much more recently I finally looked it up and found out "Obsidian" was also connected to Fallout. I looked them up and Black Isle Studios was helping out with Fallout. Well, they were responsible for Baldur's Gate! Just a week ago I went over to my cousin's for dinner. I walked into his room and sitting there on the floor: Fallout 3 GOTY Edition. I freaked out and had to show everyone. Fortunately, he was at a football game and I had a chance to start up a new game. I had found true love. Now I absolutely LOVE a good story-line. I had to read every word everyone said to me and take the time to respond with something I would really say. Humor was everywhere. I had such a good time going through the beginning. Yeah... I've told this story to everyone I know a couple times. So, my words: "If Bethesda and Obsidian make something, it's logical conclusion that I will like it."

I suppose it goes both ways. If you like Baldur's Gate and Morrowind, you should like Fallout and if you like Fallout, maybe you'll like those games!

Since it was by its release agreed that Fallout 3 is a magnificent game whatsoever, you will probably like it as long as you like RPGs in general.

Personally I played FO3 from 2.2.2009 forward, and I still consider it one (if not THE) best games I've played. And now that you mentioned Dragon Age, I can tell that Fallout 3 has loads of more freedom than it, has much more to see and feel, but general story, and especially writing in DA:O is so superior you may need some time to get used to Fallout 3's sometimes caveman-level dialogue and logic.
