Online Arena

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:36 am

Guys Ill be honest, Ive always been the guy who would love to see the TES series go online, but I know it wouldn't work so I dont hope for it. However my friends and I occasionally bicker over whos character would win in a fight. Obviously there is no way to test this. So after seeing the arena in Oblivion I always had the idea of a arena fight. Nothing fancy. Just plain cut simple. You could establish rules. No magic, No armor, etc etc. Maybe even put a wager on the match. Items or septims etc?
But there isn't a need for running around the internal area of the arena before fighting. It would be all menus until you play and then it spawns you in the arena. I can already see someone saying
"But Wolf-Lord what about all my stuff in different houses!"
Its simple. What you have in your inventory/equipped is what goes in with you. No penalties for dying (unless a wager was made). You maybe could implement a score board. And obviously above all else you would earn bragging rights.

Just my thoughts on this guys. Wondering what you think? Please feel free to tear down my ideas just don't start any kind of MMO war please. That's not what I'm asking for.

I think it would be too easy for people to cheat their stats to over 9000 (on PC anyway) to be able to get this to work well.

Dont like the idea of it, since people can cheat their stats.

And what about mods? Specifically custom races/bodys/hair/armor/weapons etc.

Well in RTS online multiplayer, it prevents you from using cheats. Is there anyways for them to do that if Skyrim had an online arena? Not that I'm interested in it but if its possible for RTS games to prevent gold cheats and such, wouldn't it be possible to prevent it online for SR?

Or what if (DUN-DUN-DUN) they removed console commands from this game!? XD

(Yes, mods would still allow people to cheat >.<)

I guess they could throw it in as an Xbox and PS3 exclusive...

they should have a separate game for Skyrim that comes with it that is multiplayer, one that does not support mods/console commands, or limits us to only do things like create new places.

Maybe a DLC for this. I play on 360 too so I wouldn't have to worry about cheats and I think its a cool idea.

I'd really like the idea of some kind of online thingy, Maybe Leaderboards of some kind, and a Online Arena would be brilliant but not needed, as the Elder Scrolls series are already CAPITAL !

Yeah you guys had very good points about the console. I didn't even think of that, but mainly because I play on Xbox so Ive never had the ability to do such a thing. And like most games the internet would be separate. If your buddy is on PS3 and your on Xbox, well then forget it. I don't think there's a game out there where the online plays merge together.

I hope there is never any sort of online or multiplayer element with any of the Elder Scrolls games. If they want to make a dedicated MMO, fine, but don't divert resources from or water down or tamper with the best single player RPG series made.

It would be too much hassle with the PC version if you take the console and all the mods into consideration.

I wouldn't mind seeing that. It'd also be cool to leaderboards for types of mini-games. I'd also like to see stat comparisons like in the Fable series. You'd be able to compare stats like Most Locks Picked, Most Creatures Killed, Most Potions Brewed, etc. with your friends.

I would rather the development team focus entirely on the single player.

I think it could work if were required to make a separate character for online. You start off with a basic set of armour, spells, and weapons. You fight others who are the same rank as you, and you gain gold every time you beat someone. You then use this gold to buy better equipment.

Make it so that cheating isn't allowed, too. Just like RTS games.

Honestly, I think there should be no online aspect in TES games. The most I ever thought was maybe co-op or dungeon crawling experiences (Phantasy Star Online type stuff). Other than that, I wouldn't want real online things coming in to play. It would only be a deterrent from focusing the actual game, being that this series have always remained offline and single player.
