Sun Glare Not....glaring?

Post » Sun Feb 06, 2011 7:04 am

Hey there guys :)

I'm having yet another problem with texture loading. I recently downloaded LadyDeadLock's Sun Glare mod, and I still have the old sun.

The installation instructions say:

"Install Instructions
====================
Unpack the archive and install to fallout 3 install directory.
Add this line to your archiveinvalidation.txt in the same install directory and save:

textures/sky/sunglare.dds"

I have installed the archive into the Fallout 3 Data Folder (as I don't actually know what the install directory is), but how do I add the tim into archiveinvalidation.txt? I've tried searching my computer for the file, but apparently there is none!

Thanks AGAIN for the help :P

Skip manually messing with the txt file and use http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944 instead.

If properly installed you shouldn't have to do anything ever again. Well, regarding texture invalidation that is. No need to edit it. If you install it manually you must add it to the FALLOUT.ini, under [Archive]:

SArchiveList=ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa, Fallout - Textures.bsa, Fallout - Meshes.bsa, Fallout - Voices.bsa, Fallout - Sound.bsa, Fallout - MenuVoices.bsa, Fallout - Misc.bsa

In short, double check that it is correctly installed.

The game won't run w/o an ini so it must be there. For Vista/XP: My Documents/My Games/Fallout 3

Not sure about Steam versions.

Guess it's named FALLOUT if you have hidden file extensions.

This is a bug.

I don't know why it happens, but I do know when it happens. You see, I made Fellout and since roughly Day 2, I've included ASG. Now if you go indoors and then back out again, the game then can't be bothered to properly reload the weather outdoors: The sun glare texture plain isn't loaded among other things.

The best solution is to save your game, quit to the main menu (or quit entirely) and reload.
