Dragon brakes

Do you think magicka or other conditions exists that can slow down the flow of time? That Earil guy in Crucible claimed he could do "chronomancy" but it's hard to tell.

There's some evidence to suggest a connection between magic and time. Although much of that evidence involves magicka at a level beyond simple spells cast by solitary mages.

Consider especially the idea that magicka comes from Aetherius, and that Aetherius is the realm of the Aedra. Then think about the relation between the Aedra and time (Akatosh).

Everyone in Shivering Isles is crazy though, everyone!

If Mages could invoke the powers of Akatosh through prayer and offering's, then maybe if they were very powerful, could manipulate time. But I can't think of any other way.

You might want to compare what caused the different Dragon Breaks before speculate how to make them based on somebody from the Shivering Isles. :)

I know what causes Dragon Breaks. I'm talking about applying Dragon brakes; i.e. putting the "brakes" on the flow of time. :D

Owh you mean bullet-time. Shouldn't be to difficult.

edit:

Prince of Persia did some cool stuff with Time too. You might just want to rip that all.

Time is way of perceiving things. If you can't slow down time itself (seeing how it is somewhat of a universal substance), why not change the way it is perceived? What if an uber-illusionist finds a way to slow everyone's perception of time?

(Just thinking freely)

It's all very simple; Dragon Brakes are what allow dragons to stop in midflight. Otherwise, traversing long distances would be considerably more difficult, no?

If you want to slow down time, get a computer that meets the minimum requirements for TES IV and turn graphics detail to high. :P

You can argue that every time you cast a "fortify speed" spell (or drink a potion), time either slows up for you or speeds up for everybody else. Slow works in the reverse direction. So there lies the connection between Magicka and Time.

I agree, your idea is pluasible. However, I feel inclined to believe that fortify speed simply makes your pc or npc move faster rather than altering time. On the other side I would imagine Slow would just cause your body to move at a slower pace. IMO, its physical alterations, rather than the manipulation of time.

I imagine that if Akatosh were a car, he'd be something along the lines of... hmmmm... Ferrari? No, more like....... *thinking*....... Charger..... Yeah...
Just remember though. Before you drive your Akatosh, always buckle up.

If the Ayleids had ever been aware of Einstein's theory of relativity, they would have agreed that magicka and time are related, as magicka comes from Light, and the perception of time between two entities is relative to the constant speed of the light versus your own different speeds.
