Most definitely! The best mods out there all require it, you're just going to end up with alot of mediocre and minor mods if you don't have it. As for Wrye Bash, you can easily skip that at first. I've been playing Oblivion with mods for years, and I still have no use for it. It has some good features but it's certainly not essential. It can be a bit confusing trying to figure out how to use it, so don't worry about passing that one over for awhile.

So I'd be best off just getting OBMM?

They both have their place. Initially, you probably don't really need WB, but, when you start running into multiple mods, affecting the same thing/place, it will become a requirement.

Hi sorry to bring up an old thread but I wanted to get your opinion on this.
Should I really spend over 300 euro for the PC upgrades just for Elder Scrolls games?
I just got 200 euro today and wondering should I invest in it.
Thanks for your reply in advance.

Depends on your current computer specs. (are they in the thread somewhere?? if not, post 'em up.) If you have an older, outdated system..... then, you would be better off saving your cash, and simply investing in a new system.... if yours isn't that old yet, upgrading may not be a bad plan, and also, it wouldn't be for just this game, I am sure there are other games you play, or, want to play, that would benefit as well.

I'm old, and my mind is going.... (some would argue that not so much 'going', as 'went'.....) so, yeah, I needed to be reminded. :D

Your machine really isn't all that old, and you could probably do the powersupply, vid card, and later on, processor, and have a machine that would last your another year or three.... Or, you could set the money aside, and buy an all new machine, that would last you a year or three....... Granted, the newer machine would net you better performance, and, if you post how much ya wanna spend, what you would need, (just the tower? keyboard/monitor/mouse?) what country you are in, (Ireland???? just a guess.... :D) if you want pre-built, or, want to adventure out on your own, and try your own build...... folks here can give you some great suggestions...

Granted, upgrading your current machine to play oblivion would be cheaper RIGHT NOW..... but, I suspect you would have to pull another rabbit or two out of your hat for some upgrades to play games coming out later this year.

So... what do you make of this. If I got the power supply, vid card and processor upgrades I would be set? And now I know the specs for these haven't been released, but you seem like an intelligent person, but do you think if I got these upgrades I would perhaps be able to run Skyrim and say... Battlefield 3  (one of the main reasons I want the PC as it is majorly tuned down for consoles)

Thanks.

Edit : I don't really care about graphics so much as performance, if that helps.

Yep, those three items, and you would be pretty much golden. If you went for a meaner graphics card, you could prolly play the games on pretty high settings as well. Of course, all those things come at a cost. :D My trick was to buy stuff that was a generation or two older.... a 48XX series vid card, instead of the 5XXX cards. Of course, not the 6 series are out.... so, the 5's are gonna get cheaper. For Nvidia, the GTX 560 Ti's are pretty flippin badarse, and can be had for under 250 bucks. (here in the states anyway....) The meanest Quad core that your system will support, and the appropriate p/s for whatever vid card you end up with, and you should be set for a year or three.

Sorry for kinda asking the same question over again but I just want to make sure as a PC is sort of a big investment for me.

As we don't know the requirements for Skyrim yet...... I can only guess.... but, my best guess would be: Yep.
