Who would like to be able to summon a portal to oblivion

Post » Wed Feb 09, 2011 10:32 am

I don't want the ability myself but I would like a quest where maybe a high ranking necromancer or mage opened up a portal for me to go retreive something for him or do something in the world. To me it would kind of ruin it if I was able to create a portal at almost anytime.

Sure, I want to be able to go to Oblivion again.

Just not Mehrunes Dagon's bit.

Maybe a portal to Hircines plane of Oblivion, anyyone elses planes except Dagons can be accessed without disrupting the lore

Agreed, Hircine's plane would be cool :) I have always liked Hircine best of all the Daedric princes!

Yeah, I've definitely had enough of Dagon's plane of Deadlands. endless seas of lava get pretty old after closing 50 oblivion gates.

It would be nice to see some other planes of oblivion. In particular I would like some glimses of Moonshadow (Azura's realm), the Colored Rooms (Meridia), Coldharbor (Molag Bal), and Quagmire (Vaermina).

As far as the player summoning a portal to some plane of oblivion, I sincerely doubt that any Daedric price would grant such a power. In Shivering Isles, even when the player took up the mantle of the Madgod he was still limited to teleporting to the palace while only Sheogorath himself could actually open a gateway to his realm.

Meridia's sphere is closed to mortals, isn't it . But a trip to quagmire would definitely make you appreciate all that nice clean snow.

I want be able to summon Todd Howard.
But if seriously - no, I don't want to summon portals to Oblivion, I don't see the reasons to do this

In TES IV you didn't seal off the Realms (note the plural) of Oblivion entirely. Proof of that is that you can later go to the Shivering Isles. What you did do was dispel whatever preternatural forces allowed so many stable portals to be opened at once so easily.
"From what I know about Daedric magic such stable portals simply can't exist. Something must have changed. The old rules no longer apply." (Martin Septim)
What he later did simply returned things to normal so that "the old rules" applied again. That said, it's fully possible that you'll get such a quest in Skyrim in the same manner you got a quest from Peryite in Oblivion. (For those of you who don't know, he's one of the Daedric Princes you can get a quest from by giving an offering at his statue.)

you mean the dragon fires

What? You just agreed with him, and yet somehow stated the exact opposite of his opinion. O_o

I noticed this as well. Almost weirded me out as much as his obsession with liches.

I could care less about every other realm besides Hermaeus Mora's. :read:
Infinite Halls of forbidden knowledge... And restless spirits searching for knowledge just sounds so.... infinitely cool.
Granted, to fill out every book with different stuff, even though it would be written in Daedric and other ancient languages, would take longer than making Shvering Isles. :sadvaultboy:

yeah well sometimes i get lost in what im saying, trying to explain two sides of the fence, and confuse my self when im talking on different threads

EDIT: and yeah i have an unhealthy interest in liches maybe just as bad as everyone else's unhealthy interest in following the cliche generic path of gameplay. stand out a little people
