[req] Better Heads Model In Oblivion

Post » Fri Feb 11, 2011 1:20 am

Well, it's my avatar actually. I really love that face. It's from Better Heads mod for Morrowind for those that use it.

It's this model:

    BH_BG_B_N_DElf_Head02-7

The hair is from Corean which I recently found was available for Oblivion as well. I think it's this one if I'm not mistaken: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15701

But any ways, would someone be able to make that head/face in Oblivion?

Crap, I did it again. Can a moderator move this to the Oblivion Mods subforum?

I'm fairly sure Leydenne was responding to your request to move the thread to the proper forum, not to your actual request.

What exactly do you want? A model for Oblivion that looks like this head, or a head for Oblivion that looks like this model? I didn't quite get which one you mean.
If the former is the case, then you should take a look at the http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16120 and the http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21608. They both have this kind of look, and I guess it wouldn't be a problem to make an extra race that has the Dunmer coloring and Dunmer eyes. I'm sure someone else would do that for you too; so it would be good if you could tell us if that is what you're looking for.

I want to use this head on my character in Oblivion. So I'm just guessing you'd import the .nif file into Oblivion, but I'm not a modder so I don't know. I just want my character in Oblivion to look exactly like my character in Morrowind since I'm using the same character any ways. The corean hair mod is used in both games, so couldn't the BH model be used in both games as well, only looking much better in OB of course? It'd probably be a lot of work to try and make a face from scratch that looked just like the MW one. Couldn't that Better Heads model just be imported into the Oblivion game somehow? Or is that not the best way to go about it?

No, that's not the best way to do it. I'd even say it's pretty much impossible. The Corean Hair is originally an Oblivion mod that has been converted to work with Morrowind, but the other way around it is a lot more difficult, and heads especially are more difficult to create.
However, the Cute Elves mod I linked to has a very similar model, and I'm pretty sure that you could make a face that looks pretty much exactly like the one from your avatar using that race's head as a base.

No, that is really hard to do. Oblivion heads are much more complicated than MW heads. They use facegen (that's why you can alter their shape and see facial animations like smiling, blinking with the eyes etc, unlike MW where you have one static head shape and that's it). You need to rig and set up the head properly to make it work with facegen. Only one person has made a new head model for Oblivion in almost four years and there is a reason for it. Using existing race mods, texture replacers etc and then shape the head with the facegen in Oblivion is definitely your best option. And it is far less work then getting the MW head to work in Oblivion (and make it look better as well).

Any race that uses RenHead01 or RenHead02 can approximate that look- wide eyes, narrow chin, small pouty mouth. Take a look at Lineage 2 Elves race. The textures used are similar to the make-up on that face, and there's a Corean hair add-on for it. Then get to work in facegen, or browse the character save files at TES Nexus and use Wrye Bash/Face Exchange Lite, whichever to transfer the face to your character.

I'm sure you can do better than that, but in the game this would already look very much like your avatar, I think. I was using the head RenHead01 for it and the normal Dunmer textures. The ears are bigger than usual because they're the Bosmer ears, so usually they'd not stick out that much.

Here's the link to http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12424, by the way. There's one screenshot where somebody made a Dunmer girl with them, and it already looks very much like your avatar.

Eee gads, you're right. Her head looks really bloated in that one. But it was a "quick try" as you said. I'll look into all those options you guys said. Thanks! I'm also modding Morrowind at the moment too and it's so time consuming to juggle both games at the same time, so to speak.

The thing with most of these mods is that they are for "white" people, like Nords, Bretons, Imperials, Wood Elves. I don't see that many pictures and examples of those mods for Dark Elves. But all these mods you guys are suggesting will work perfectly fine with a Dark Elf, right?

Lineage 2 Elves has a Dark Elf race included. Here's a picture of my LIneage 2 character so you can really see what the make up looks like on a Dark Elf character: http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/uploads/1267407299/gallery_80_16_263408.jpg

Quick try with stock Dunmer(http://i555.photobucket.com/albums/jj458/arx7893/Misc%20Things/Oblivion2010-03-2510-36-55-15.jpg - http://i555.photobucket.com/albums/jj458/arx7893/Misc%20Things/Oblivion2010-03-2510-37-28-78.jpg - http://www.4shared.com/file/248798707/33c310b/DunmerFaceTest01.html).
You'll need to adjust sliders to get desired face. And, facial texture matters.

Thanks for your effort. It looks really dull though. I guess her face looks cute in Morrowind but in Oblivion, it's rather plain. But I'll download it and give it a try and see what I come up with. I'll also check out that other stuff. It takes a long while to make an adorable character so I'm going to have to have some patience. hehe
