Rival in Fallout

Just curious if anyone else thinks that it would be neat to have a rival or a few rivals in a fallout game that have scripted and random encounters. They would also level up and have followers of their own.

Fallout 2 Restoration Kit, last time I checked you had to deal with some other chosen one jerk who is always trying to kill you, not sure if he is in the new version though.

I was going to point this out as well. Depending on the story line it could happen in New Vegas, otherwise we'll have to wait for some enterprising modder to create a Rival mod. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to find out that someone is actually working on it right now. :ninja:

A rival PC group was also going to be one of the "Features" of Van Buren.

In Fallout 1, all of the previous Vault dwellers that went out before yours, are dead in the game except for one.
You can find them here and there.

This has given me an idea for a mod (I don't think its quite appropriate for a new standalone game).

Story: Its a couple of decades after the end of Fallout 2. The Dwellers of Vault 13 and Arroyo are making a good attempt at unity given their stark cultural differences. You play the "Cousin of the Chosen" who was too young to adventure in Fo2, but has spent the last few years in the chosen's shadow. With a huge cultural divide and increasing (some might say "forceful" pressure to join the NCR, your job is to "Secure the future of your people" Depending on your path, this could mean admission as a state in NCR, Brotherhood-backed independence (With the New Arroyo government securing Navaro at the start of the game, you have a barganing chip with them), or simple elimination of all threats, the core ending is in the players hands.

Now this is where the Rival bit comes in: The Bishop Child http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Bishop_Child is also out and about, trying to secure the future of his family. The bishop child is nominally "good", but rutheless when it comes to getting what he wants, and he wants everything (as a benevolent dictator with democratic overtones) Depending on the game path, he may push for Reno's admission to the NCR and use of its power to take new Arroyo by force, or may work simply to undermine the new power and take it by stealth (Ala the Mordinos with Redding)
