I've owned fallout 3 for a few years now but havn't played in a while. In the last few months my dvd drive has stopped working. It wont read any typ of dvd or cd and i dont think its a driver issue or anything software/firmware related. Its a slot loading drive and i dont really have the money to get it fixed. Just wondered if there was any way of playing without the dvd as I have the biggest urge to play the game again right now! Any advice or help would be greatly apreciated!

http://fose.silverlock.org/ (Also DVD drives arent that expensive to just replace yourself. A standard one can be found new for about $18) But if the game is not installed yet, and you dont wish to repair/replace the drive, you may want to get the game on Steam.

It would be cheaper just getting a new drive.

Thanks for the suggestions... i have the game installed just cant use my drive. Im too poor/lazy to get it fixed! I tried to activate it on steam but it asks to enter the product code...there doesnt appear to be one anywhere, does this mean i would just hav to buy it from steam? Like you said, would probably be cheaper to get the drive fixed. I wish I was better with computers :unsure2:

You would have to buy it on Steam, but just use fose it's free, until you can get your dvd drive fixed.
