Hello,

1st of all, I have read most of the topics and haven't found any working solution so I ask TECHNICAL SUPPORT to solve this issue, cause I have spend considerable money on buying new configuration and original Fallout 3 game and it won't work.
When I start a new game, the game stops responding and quits.

I have original Fallout 3 game installed + expansions The Pitt and Operation:Anchorage. With Patch 1.4 it didn't work, same with 1.7 patch.

Surely in two years the developers must have found some solutions for this problem !


System Information

I am having this same issue with one exception. I updated my video drivers and the game worked fine for about 2 days. Then all of a sudden it started having these issues AGAIN!!

It is very frustrating. I have changed all the permissions, the ini file, the compatibility mode, disabling desktop composition, and I am just out of options.

I can't answer for the Intel chipset, but I found with the AMD and DDR3, you have to manually set the memory settings in the BIOS. And by that I mean all of the settings, not just the timing. When I did that, most of my problems went away. FO3 still crashes, but I think it's because the video card is overheating and not because of something else (the driver keeps crashing and recovering). Other than that, all I can suggest is that you have the latest DirectX9.0c (DirectX 10 & 11 are not compatible with previous versions) and make sure all of your divers (video, sound, and any chipset ones) are up to date. I wouldn't expect Bethesda to revisit this game because the sequel is out and there aren't really all that many who have posted about their issues. Unless the majority of their customers start reporting this issue, there's no reason for them to fix. Sorry to say that, but it's true.

You have a CPU with 4 threads, did you try the quadcore fix?
Open up the .ini file located in My Documents>My Games>Fallout 3. *Do not alter the one in the actual game directory labeled Fallout_Default_ini*
In the FALLOUT.ini find the line

bUseThreadedAI=0
change the 0 to a 1

then below it add the line

iNumHWThreads=2

*Also you have a high page file used, you may want to try to run the game in a clean boot.
