Anyway to get to Oil Rig without using the Tanker?

Post » Mon Feb 14, 2011 9:52 am

Ok guys I admit. I screwed up. Big time. I have put countless hours in FO2 and I finally got back to the main quest so I can finish before NV. I did everything I needed to do for the fixing of the tanker other then getting the part from Vault 13. I went to Vault 13 and found I had raided everything before and I could not find the part. I looked in all my companions inventory and my own and the car trunk. The only companion that I have dead is Miria and I killed her before I found the Vault. I don't know why the heck I would sell it to anybody or leave it anywhere. So what I'm getting at is.... am I screwed? or is there another way? Thanks :tops:

Well you could use an inventory editor. If such a thing exists. The thing you want is the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/NavCom_Parts. At least now you know what to look for. Using the Fallout 2 Mapper is another option. You could drop the NavCom Parts somewhere in your current cell then load the game a pick them up.

I'm afraid the answer is only yes if, and only if you're playing Killap's restoration project. In this case, it is possible to catch a vertibird from Navarro.

Luckily I have Killap's restoration. How does one catch this vertibird?

I'm not entirely sure yet, I'm still playing FRP 2.1.1, but I think the vertibird escape in this version is disabled because of the submarine thingy.

So can you get there with the submarine or something?

Nope, the submarine is just another quest added to the Tanker Fob, NavCom and fuel the tanker quest, you'll need to accomplish before the ship gets seaworthy.

I dunno which version of F2RP you've installed but on all previous versions (before 2.1.1) it's possible to hijack a vertibird.

Otherwise I think you're ... well you know. Hmm, then the only way to solve this is to cheat a little utilizing an inventory editor.

F2se editor by TeamX compatible with F2RP: http://teamx.ru/node/361

Hope it works... summoning quest items with an editor can have a tendency to crash, corrupt saves or just have no effect at all.

It can't hurt to try however. But for safety reasons: be sure to make and use a test save first, not the original one of course.
