Question about forum rules.

Post » Wed Feb 16, 2011 6:32 am

earlier tonight i saw that a moderator locked a thread because the conversation was kinda going in a direction different from the original intended OP. Why exactly is this grounds for locking? It feels a bit harsh to lock a conversation between two people because its a bit side tracked. btw, there was no flaming or trolling or anything like that. just a sidetracked conversation. and yes, i did give a quick read of the forum rules but didnt really see anything about sidetracking conversations.

(oh, the irony if this thread gets locked ^_^)

I have no idea why. It had to have been something more than just getting off track. Perhaps the post had something in it which the admin had to remove. You wouldn't have seen removed content. Perhaps one of the posters got out of hand with their comments, and the admin removed the offending content when he saw it and locked the thread so it didn't happen again. That would be the only reason why I would think something like that would happen.

A quote from http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/724862-forum-rules-and-general-information/, before the lock:

9. Posting about moderator or administrator action or inaction is also against the rules of this forum.

Please feel free however to contact the moderator involved, another moderator you feel comfortable with, our community manager Gstaff or another admin if you disagree with a moderator action. Our moderators do not mind taking a second look or discussing an action with the other moderators and admin to assure they have acted fairly. So if you think you've been treated wrongly or that unfairly, be sure to send a PM. Sometimes moderators make mistakes.
