[WiPz] Misc. Little Projects

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:18 pm

Thanks for the compliments. :)

---------
REQUEST: Steel axe and steel waraxe look the same. I'd like to change that. Would someone be able to lop off the left side of the steel battleaxe mesh? Maybe replace it with something like the square hitter on the left side of the iron war axe.

-------------
Other projects...:
new daedric key for bloodmoon. Uses daedric textures instead of 6th house textures.
new icons for: skeleton key, dreugh staff, silver staff, mace of slurring, bipolar blade - because I didn't like the vanilla icons for them. Now they are more consistent with other icons of similar items.

Haven't seen this thread in a while, eh?

I've been mulling this idea over, and I finally figured out how to do it.

http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/books_new.jpg and some other tid-bits. How do they look?

I think they look very good as is, and will fit in well with the stock books. Maybe you could do another higher res version for better compatibility with book covers?

? It's all vanilla textures. If there's a mod that replaces the texture, then the meshes I made will use the better textures. Um. Is that what you meant?

EDIT: I flattened the various shapes until they were paper-thin and then plopped them on the top of the book. Ingenious, no?

Very good idea! I thought you had just changed the textures. Nice work.

Can anyone think of what sort of symbol or banner I could use for the thieves guild?

Also, is the fighter's guild symbol okay? It doesn't look too out of place, does it? I want to make these look like they sort of "fit" the book texture and aren't terribly out-of-place, but it is hard especially because the book textures are so low-resolution compared to the things I'm putting on them.

Do you mean from scratch or from vanilla resources? I have a symbol that I cobbled to make ready use of when I start on the Thieves Guild "clothing" for EFCR. Its a Dagger crossed with a Lock Pick. If you want it, I would be glad to make a file that is easy to alter as you see fit (if'n you don't wanna cobble your own, that is :) ). Feel free to use the idea, either way ;) .

Maybe the http://images.uesp.net//6/62/M_tavern.png flag? It's not faction-specific, but a lot of the Thieves Guild bases are located in taverns (The Rat In The Pot, the South Wall Cornerclub, etc.) and the image sort of works, somehow

Both are really good ideas.

Thanks for the offer, Westly - but, I think I can cobble one together on my own, it shouldn't be too hard to flatten a dagger and stick it behind a square with the lock texture. I guess my main concern is that it will look too much like a real dagger and lock are embedded in the book! :P

Updated OP.

Need help with that dragonscale pauldron - it crashed my game. And stupid me forgot to check the Warnings.txt before reloading my savegame. Could someone who knows a lot about meshes and skinning and stuff take a look http://www.mediafire.com/?7277kqrbr12m6r9 and find out (and fix) whatever is wrong? Or, if it something I can fix in Nifskope, instruct me as to what I need to do. And, um, maybe make a leftified version (the feathers/scales don't rotate on the x-axis, so my usual trick of scaling to -1 doesn't work).

I've made a new ul and k mesh for the dragonscale, still need to test it in-game and/or the CS.

For the duke and silver, I'm unsure if I like how the CL mesh came out. Might use the templar CL mesh instead, there'd be less clipping with the cuirass.... What do you folks think?

I tested the mesh in my game and it worked fine for both left and right pauldrons, and as a ground mesh, no alterations at all , can you be more specific about the error?

Sy :obliviongate:

Edit: to get the feathers to rotate correctly: Right click on the mesh then go to Transform > Apply, then it should rotate the same as the rest of the pauldron, hope that helps.

Here's the warning I get. It's repeated a bazillion times in the warnings.txt file:

Model Load Error: Meshes\Alais\a_dragon_pauld_CL.NIF cannot load file in Meshes\Alais\a_dragon_pauld_CL.NIF.
Will use the default object Marker_Error.NIF.

Marker_error.nif is not used. A most vile noise emits from my headphones (which, thankfully, I wasn't wearing) and the game crashes.

EDIT: Wait, I think I know what is wrong. It should be a_dragon_pauld_CL_r.nif. *goes off into the CS*

EDIT2: Hah, got it to work! Now I need to test the new knee meshes. I also want to change the UA mesh. Maybe get rid of FA?

Glad to see you still beavering away on this!

One thing I'd like to mention is that I'm really not sure that this:

Fixes for Vanilla Armor
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/daedric_hf_fixed.jpg NEW!
Actually needs fixing.

If you have a look at some of the http://www.imperial-library.info/content/page-35 (114C, top right) then you'll see those floating horns. I have one replacement mesh ("Fixed Daedric Fountain Helm/Daedric Face of Inspiration" by Richard Beveridge) that also plants these horns on the helm. But like I say, I dunno...

I need help!

I was testing my Morag Tong armor in the CS. In this photo, you can see http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/misc_new_armor2.jpg. But, when I test it in the CS, it looks like http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/morag_tong_full_problem.jpg! How I made the cuirass: took the dreugh cuirass, removed the chest and neck part; pasted on shirt_common_3b's chest, neck, and dood-dad; pasted on chitin cuirass loin cloth; pasted on and adjusted netchcuirass2's belt bags; edited the dreugh cuirass sash, sash dangly bit, and sash button. What has gone wrong to cause the sash parts and belt bags to be in the wrong places?!

In other news:
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/clannfear_full_1.jpg - would anyone actually want this? (BTW, going to get rid of knee mesh). Or should I go back to the drawing board for some parts?
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/duke_full_2.jpg - better or worse than v1?
http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr50/Alaisiagae/Mod%20Screenshot%20MW/Misc/silver_full_2.jpg - better or worse than v1?

I'm not really sure about your issue there. Out of curiosity, did you move the sash and/or pouches in nifskope? That could have messed with the physiquing I believe.

About the other stuff, very cool! I like the new pants style, seems realistic to me. Nice clannfear armor, too. ;)

Yes, I did move the position of the pouches and the sash - I had to resize the sash, too, because it clipped with the chest mesh. Darn, I don't know how to physique stuff, but I really like how the sash and pouches look. :(

EDIT: yeah, I wasn't sure what pants to use, so I stuck with what the Templar and Imperial Steel greaves' used for their pants textures. Maybe I should use an expensive or extravagant texture instead? (to reflect the higher quality of armor)

I like the Clannfear armor, but what would you think of something like http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/3858/clannfearhelm.jpg for the helmet? (Sorry, huge Monster Hunter junkie here :P) The tongue and a few floaties (not pictured) would have to be removed by somebody more talented in Blender than I, but do you like the concept in general?

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured out the Blender side of it. I also substituted out the face mask mesh for, in my opinion, a better one. Again, let me know what you think :)

That's cool! :o I wouldn't mind it being an open-faced helm - what do you think?

Also, since you know Blender, do you think you might be able to find out what went wrong with my http://www.mediafire.com/?31g22xparpll6ph (links to MediaFire download).

I'll look into an open-faced version :)

I'll see what I can do about the cuirass, but, in the interest of full disclosure, I don't really know Blender, beyond the level of knowledge required to select a few pieces of a mesh and delete them :P
