Let's talk Orcs

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:26 am

I never played Orc characters in Oblivion or Morrowind, but I'd love to play a race that look a bit like this:

or this

the green skin thing seems a bit outdated

I hope the devs give them lots of dirty facial jewelry

I don't want my Orc Mage to look like a steaming turd with teeth, but thanks anyway.

this, tamrielic orcs were also known as corrupted elves, so they are not as dumb or aggressive as orcs from lord of the rings. still, orcs from oblivion didnt act like orcs

Orcs in Lord of the Rings were previously elves as well. Just saying.

They should look like how they did them in Warcraft with a slight hunchback, orcs in oblivion just looked like green skinned humans with a orc head.

All of those descriptions apply to lichs.

true, but they only difference is a lich is not a ugly mongaloid green skinned hulk wannabe freak that for some reason is barely socially accepted and the fact that there not interesting but drunken bums and cool and uneducated, unlike a lich that possesses far more knowledge than they entire race of them

EDIT: I hope this happens to you :obliviongate: from a lich. then we wouldnt have to listen to you ''funny guys'' anymore.

I just want them to look powerful, so not the standard human body with a pig nose. i really want them to be large and tough.

I have come to notice that I dislike most of your ideas and suggestions about Skyrim and the TES series. I suppose we're looking for a different gaming experience.

1. Lichs are also ugly.

2. Orcs are not drunken bums who are uneducated.

3. Lichs only know as much as they've learnt. They don't have a magic knowledge of everything automatically.

4. Your intense obsession is slightly annoying. Could you be a bit less one note?

I would not mind if they looked a bit like the WoW orcs. I kinda like Blizzard's take on the race. IMO all of the elves in OB looked like the stereotypical "fantasy elf" put on book art, games, movies.

Oh boy. Although some make me want to go away and have a cup of coffee, this thread was started with the best of intentions and I'd like to contribute. That's what I'm here for and invest the time.
Either more elvish (Orsimer's got to mean something) and aesthetic (although that's relative) like in some picture of Warcraft III Reign of Chaos or scarier or fiercer like the Uruk-Hai in LOTR were. I don't see why a race with the appearance of Uruks (or something similar along this idea) wouldn't be able to do a good bit of smithing or so. I think this makes sense.
Now lock and load the heavy artillery if you must, but after several of this threads, this is my opinion.

EDIT: Also it would be sweet lore wise if they sometimes ate their young.

What is your problem? Not even goblins do that. Orcs in tes aren't mindless animals, they aren't the same as in DnD or LotR. Sure, they're rough and are more savage than other races, but they can be sophisticated too, look at lord Rugdumph. Orcs need to be freed from stupid stereotypes that other races keep fueling.

Rugdumph was merely a joke. But yes, it isn't hard to see that Orsimer have intellectuable abilities.

Be aware not to confuse the prejudices developers, people playing the game and the various races wandering Tamriel themselves have. :teehee: This is seemingly an aspect that needs no improvement to be credible and immersive. lol

lol if they were uncontrollable beasts they would be on the same level as minotaurs.

you totally missed the OPs point

I agree and I think Bethesda agree, and we will see much more "personalty" in each race this time around, each race will be distinct from the other.

in oblivion they were all humans with weird faces :P

Orcs need to look more Intimidating on Oblivion they looked like fat squished faced Kermits IMHO.
Orcs are supposed to be naturally born Brutes orcs are basically born with a damn hammer.
I would greatly enjoy them if they look more intimidating and whenever i entered towns people would either tremble at my awesome.
Or praise me depending on my fame. Are they going to add that system in?

The Orcs in Skyrim better not sound like the Nords like in Oblivion.
