Last act in fallout 3

Post » Tue Feb 22, 2011 4:45 am

Just before I went out and bought me a copy of Fallout NV, I thought I'd better leave my FO3 character somewhere conclusive (as I may well never play it again or not for a year or so).

Soooo, I went back to Megaton and paid Moira to decorate my home in the Vault theme. "Feeling homesick?" "Yup". I came from a Vault, after all. I was mighty impressed - it was quite vault like. Fawkes was with me. He gets to stay there and remember that he came from a vault as well so he should feel at home.

Anyway I sat down on the vault-seats, looked at me for a minute or so, saved the game and...GOODBYE Fallout 3!!

Did any of you deliberately end your explorations on the delivery of NV? Did you go down in a blaze of glory? Go psycho in Rivet City? Destroy yourself with 25 bottlecap mines? Or sell all your possession and donate all your bottlecaps to Confessor Cromwell?

With one of my characters, I set the difficulty all the way up, and set myself out on a suicide mission to cleanse DC completely.

I actually succeeded, which was kind of a let down. But while exploring the wastes he finally ran out of stimpacks and supplies, and met his bitter end in Hank's Electronic Supply.

My other character did almost exactly the same as yours, except with the Tenpenny Tower home. :)

And my main character suited up for the trip to Vegas. (I brought him to Vegas with me, same name, appearance, and build). :D

Ummmm....

No?

You should have just bought NV in that time instead of going through all that trouble...

Fallout 3 Ended for me when I watched the last scene for the 7th time. Just not one of the greatest ways to end a game....

If you have Broken Steel, the game never ends.

You gave up his life to a couple of puny Raiders? So much for going out in a blaze of glory *pokes and runs*

I took my character with me. She's bored to death and ready to head East again.

I'm guessing you don't understand what he is saying?

Anyway two of my characters are related to each other, one died while the other one is spending his days living peacefully in Megaton, but I wont be getting New Vegas till the 12th sadly so I actually plan on making one more character before heading off to the west :).

I am still exploring the Wasteland until recently, I tried to entertain myself because I haven't been able to get NV :(

I took a short walk to complete a few all-but-completed side quests. Then I removed my uniform, put away my weapon, and went to sleep.

I haven't got NV, but I haven't played FO3 for a while so it counts.

I haven't, but I should. Maybe I'll leave my followers behind, pack for a long journey (A3-21 rifle, 1000 or so MF cells, come clothes, armor, food, water, Stimpacks, and a teddy bear), and do my final save at the edge of the wasteland, in a direction that I always wanted to explore. The Lone Wanderer's work is done, and he leaves the Capital Wasteland for a peaceful retirement in Vermont or some such place.

Wow, I never thought about the possibility that the Lone wanderer could be the courier from fallout 3. It's extremely unlikely. (Bit of a long way isn't it?) But it's entirely possible, especially with with the age slider.

And the initial events of NV, the introductory cutscene in fact, could explain the loss of stats and items.

Actually, the game froze upon exit of the place. The save file went corrupt and I didn't have a back-up. So basically, I just called it his end. :P

No, I understood it. I guess I am just not one of those people who gets too attached to there characters.

I guess some people would have to go through some certain process to feel good that they ended there time in the game and there character with some dignity, instead of just going...

"Oh well look NV came out, guess its time to throw FO3 away."

Kinda like going out with a bang.

Maybe I should go back to FO3 and end my characters life with a final Fat Man Kamikaze attack on the Last of the Behemoths.

Hmm :whistling:

I haven't "thrown Fallout 3 away" yet, as I won't be getting New Vegas before Christmas. But as I ordered Fallout 1 and 2 today, which should arrive tomorrow, I will be saying goodbye to the Capital Wasteland tonight.

Maybe a bit inspired by a few others in this thread, but still:
First I'm going to blow something up... Don't know what, though. Afterwards I'm gonna sell literally all my stuff (after a backup, of course), except for a Vault 101 suit, buy the Vault theme for my Megaton house, donate the rest to the Rivet City church (I will keep the odd 2 caps that are left), bring my favourite companion, Fawkes, and sit down in the chair.
Retirement... Back to where it all began.

Have fun with fallout 1 and 2...definately worth the time.

There are so many great RP possibilities... hard to choose just one.

Long way? yes. About ~2400 miles?

But NV takes place 3 years after Fallout 3, which is ~2 years and 335 days more then necessary to walk across the US

Because the past of the courier is so foggy, it isn't that far a stretch for someone to RP as being the lone wanderer. I personally am not doing so, as I prefer the idea that I did not come from a vault, and it is always an exciting journey to enter one and see all the unfamiliar pre-war tech.

730 days. Yep, that's plenty of time for him to get to New Vegas.

Plus, you can argue that the operation Doc did to save your life disfigured you, which explains why you don't look 100% like you did in Fallout 3.
