Snowblind

This is just a random idea. I think it would be cool to get snowblind. Perhaps from Ice Wraiths or blizzards? I don't know. Share you opinion.

Nah, a little intrusive. I would like to see the return of characters shielding their eyes in ash snow storms though.

I don't wan't this ingame.

Because then you can't go for longer explorations in the snowy mountains without getting snowblind, and what then?

It would be cool if you could do someone snowblind or others do it to you with a spell of some sort. I also agree if there is a blizzard, snowblindness should be implied.

When you say snowblindness, do you mean walking outside and being blinded by the light bouncing off the snow itself into your eyes? Or do you mean in a blizzard it's harder to see because the snow is blowing around so much that you can't see?

I feel like I'm packing to get ready to go to Sundance. Which I will be doing soon anyways.

Snowblindness should be like a spelleffect. You "lose" your sight in about 10 seconds. Snowblindness should be gotten from blizzards, Ice Wraith's or spells. Remember, this is just a suggestion.

For the same effect, how about just reintroducing the normal blind effect and applying it to things like snowstorms as well as regular spells? Not really a need for an individual effect.

I've never heard of snowblindness before, but if you mean reduced visibility in snowstorms, then yes (if they have snowstorms, of course :) ). I reckon it would get really annoying if it was reduced visibility from the sun bouncing off the snow, though.

I know. Its just, I live where it snows a lot. And sometimes, if there's a lot of snow or ice on the ground the sun can reflect off that and thus cause temporary blindness, cause the sun's in your eyes. I just wasn't sure which one you meant.

Problem is, if you had snow blindness, then every large flash, like a lightning bolt or a fireball could cause Photokeratitis. Not to mention it would usually only happen at high altitudes, over long periods of time. Usually its welders that get Photokeratitis. It takes a while to burn your corneas in the snow.

And that's why I wouldn't like it. In earlier games like Oblivion and Fallout3 you couldn't see anything when walking around in the dark; but enemies could see you perfectly. So unless enemies also suffer from reduced visibility and effectiveness it would just be another annoyance with the game not playing it fair.

If I'm to become snowblind, my enemies should as well.

I don't know, I guess, I'd be upset if it wasn't in the game. As long as it's used in the right way, even if that means forcing it on you. There are some parts of Skyrim that should be terribly uninviting.

Will we also go insane and see things from sensory deprivation?

Anyway i think snowstorms and blizzards should make it harder to see but going blind competely would be a bit much. Unless its the effect of a spell but than it should effect enemies too if you cast it.
If they add a spell like that it would add another element to stealth , blind people temporarily so they dont see you and sneak past.

"Xarnac The Conqueror" got it right. Snowblindness is mainly something that hurts you, in a really discomforting way. I would categorize it as a disease (for game purposes) and have it cause a Damage Health effect. You cure the disease, then restore the health. How do you obtain it? Perfect weather conditions where it accumulates as long as you keep looking into the sun. Gather enough of it, and it triggers the disease. I guess you could add blur and wavy post effects to simulate it hurting you, depends on what is possible.

Whiteout however, is something different. It happens (categorized to suit the game) during heavy snow, during high wind conditions, where snow amount is already significant (on the ground). Easily simulated just by VERY high amounts of fog which blends foreground and sky completely together as a white carpet.

I'm all for it... :)

I have no problem with some creatures having a blind spell, Morrowind had blind spells.
