I remember thinking that except for the rather clumsy combat it was a game that required you to think and make choices and the multi- layered story line made it better. When Elder Scrolls 4 came along I grabbed a copy hot off the press and was and still am disappointed. To me the company wanted to attract the younger players after all they are the ones who buy the most computer games.
What we got with 4 was great graphic's and a good combat system but the depth of the story line is just not there. The main quest in 4 to me (and I have played it many times) is painful to play and not much fun. There is only 4 guilds and many of us do not like the guild where you kill people and some do not like the sneaking into houses and stealing stuff.
What I had hopped for was an improved graphics game (with the SAME type features in 3 and a story line that had the same great depth of version 3. It is my opinion that the whole concept of Version 4 was to get the younger FPS players and those who think if you have a good combat system and VERY COOL graphics who needs a in depth story line. Just include a construction set and let them do there own(this is not a bad idea in itself) but some us wanted something a little more updated the version 3 with depth of play but got great graphics and a good combat system and a main story line that is a pain to play let alone enjoy.
So I will attempt to install the MGE on my second system which is a 8AN SLI Premium with 2 7950 video cards and a 4400 duel core AMD XP CPU and 2 GIG of RAM. My main system has windows 7 Pro and I am having a lot of troubl;e getting games to run but I am making headway if I install them in there own folder but still have some strange things happen. I am sure that the new version 5 will be a big hit, perhaps game of the year but will nt have the kind of things this old guy wants.
I have steam on both systems but play it on my main system because the monitor can run HDMI and the steam version looks nice in HDMI 1080. I can also run my old XP Pro system on the monitor in HDMI also.
Lats but not least in answering the question I posted. I would have like a game with great graphics like Oblivion and great depth of play like Morrowind. It is possible but I do not think so. I am going to have to learn to install MOD's in Morrow wind even (SHUTTER) on my win 7 Pro system. I tried it with Oblivion and had to have the game reinstalled. I will end up having the same tech MOD my Morrowind steam version and have to pay serious money but to me it would be worth it. If I had a step by step written set of instructions designed for a computer dummy I might try to install that MGE.
Then again who knows there may be some place on the net where there is such a set of how to do it. There was one "package redo" in a post on the steam forum but I went there and they had removed it.
I would like to know what some of you would like to have version 5 be as my idea certainly is not the only one after all most of you are not 70 LOL!
Lawrence.
