All we need is water animal mechanics and we will have extensive fishing in Craftybits that also ties into cooking through filleting, cooking and smoking fish.
Might be in the minority, or just plain mad, but the fishing in the Zelda games was totally addictive. Would never play one of those deep sea bass games, but as a diversion after a hard days hacking and slashing, just perfect.

Maybe not just because it's fun, it's atmospheric. Imagine climbing the mountains and you get to this small lake. Wouldn't it be awesome to just sit down, relax and catch some salmon?
I hate fishing in real life and hate it in games, too, but I'd actually be a bit surprised if it weren't included. I don't think they gave us a complete list of the civilian-type things we can do. But, if it's not included, just grab a sword and jump in the water.
