Some system spec and graphics questions

Post » Tue Mar 01, 2011 3:01 pm

I recently installed fallout 3 to my pc and when I ran the detect video settings it set me for low graphics. I run a 3.0ghz processor, 3gb ram, and an ati x800 series graphics card, I can run oblivion and it sets it to high quality. I have even since set fallout 3 to high graphics and it seems to work fine no lagging crashing or anything.

My question being is, would there be any other reason as to why it was set to low graphics instead of high by default.

also

I have noticed that nuka cola quantum looks like normal nuka cola is there any way to get that lovely blue glow back?

Thanks in advance

since this topic is about system specs and graphics, can you run FO3 at 1440 x 900 or something close with it being strecthed out and not being able to see all the stuff on the screen?

That card really isnt that powerful, and since you said you only run at 800x600 that may be why you are seeing a performance boost. That resolution really isnt high settings. And have you left the vault yet, the game gets much more demanding when you leave the vault.

The Nuka Cola Quantum only glows if you have HDR lighting enabled.

Yeah I am out of the vault went to megaton and started a fight with the town to see if that hit the fps any, and no it still runs clean and pure as you like.

For some one who has moved from ps3 to pc version the graphics seem to be well within acceptable limits, I get my graphics card is not the best but it looks good enough for me any how.

so if it is just a matter of resolution then I can live with that just wanted to check that I wouldn't be frying my pc while playing it.

Thanks for all the help, also thanks for the quantum solution but don't think I can have hdr on as that does slow me down

Just ran the game in the highest res I can 1280x1024, went to megaton and attacked the town ran about in the wasteland for a while, still no slowing down no glitching or any adverse effects.

Not that I am complaining just find it a little weird.

I don't have a certain answer for you, but, while playing, my game froze and the screen went into that weird colored lines screen, indicating a graphics card conflict. After rebooting and clicking the game icon, the game set up menu came up and I saw that the recommended settings had been changed. Where before it was at high settting @ 1650x1080, now it was at ultra-high, but the res was at the 1440x950(or so, I don't remember the exact resolution numbers) I decided to try it, and I haven't gone back, as it still looks great, and runs smooth as silk.

I should add that I've done the re-targeting and ini line add to hide the extra pipes from my i7, as my game was freezing and CTD. Haven't had a problem in two weeks of intense play.
