Picture Books

(Just a personal want)

I really like all the books in Morrowind and Oblivion. However, I never have the attention span to read them until I've already completed the game and I'm sure lots of people don't read them at all. What would capture my attention would be if there were pictures in the books, maybe concept art or just simple sketches. Maybe there could be a fan competition to have your sketch in the game?

Not all of them, but some books with pictures would be cool - ABC for Barbarians for example just begs for pictures :D

Some had pictures, some didn't. At least in Oblivion. As for the competition I would win no matter what because I would mod it in afterwards. :hubbahubba:

Would be cool if some books had concept art/sketches too.

But yes I like PICTURES.

quite agree, rather have a few with fantastic illustrations than half hearted pictures in every one.

Yeah they need to have picture books because they're barbarians and probably don't have the attention span for the longer books either. There could still be non-illustrated books in the game for those that collect them, do research, or like to read.

Would depend on the lore regarding printing I suppose. If there are already printing presses, then pictures would probably make sense in a limited number. If block printing is still being used, pictures would be extremely limited however. It would require wooden cuttings to be used, which would 1) limit the amount of detail, and 2) make reproduction difficult and expensive. Factor in the point that books would be designed for the upper class and educated on purpose, and pictures would probably have a limited use.

So yeah. All depends on printing presses and society.

Yes, especially having the first letters illustrated as in medieval manuscripts would be nice.

I don't care much about this, most books should not have illustrations, some books already have illustrations.

We really just need a full copy of ABC's for Barbarians. I know they don't learn any letters past C, but others read those books too. It could be like how they added vampires and werewolves to Twilight so that it wasn't just another teenaged girl love story.

I do wonder if we'll see that book in Skyrim. Could be a funny reference to Morrowind. :D
