i haven't seen a thread about music yet, so i'm just going to go ahead and say it.
who was absolutely blown away by the epicness of hearing the main theme of skyrim in the "composing skyrim's theme" video?
i got goosebumps.

I did, as well, but I really hope it's not a carbon copy of Morrowind's with different instruments and chanting. I hope they put some new stuff in there.

I like it. It's pretty close to Morrowind's theme (which is epic on it's own right) and the choir adds extra kick to it.
I hate the expression but I "cannot wait" to hear the full theme.

Well there is a part of Morrowind's theme that is in Oblivion's and Skyrim's theme because they confirmed that that part is the main theme for TES. If you don't believe me watch the video again hehe.

It was just like the Audio guy said, goosbumps on your neck. I hope the ambient tracks are a bit better this time around though. Soule's main titles are always pretty good, but his ambient stuff can be seriously "meh" at times.

I definitely believe you, but the part of the theme we heard sounded a bit too much like Morrowind's theme, in my opinion. If it's just that part, I'm fine, but at least Oblivion's theme was new and different while retaining that theme in there. I'm sure they'll achieve the same type of thing for Skyrim, though. I love the theme. I just want something completely new with that theme still at its core because I can already play Morrowind's theme on my piano.

I really disagree about the ambient tracks. Both in Morrowind in Oblivion, they were gold :)
The added a lot to the atmosphere.

I agree. After several hundred hours of listening to them, of course they become a little "meh", but I love the ambient tracks.

I like the new main theme. Combining the themes to Morrowind and Oblivion, making them appropriately epic for what we will face... Yes, that's both reasonable and awesome. ^_^

And I think I wasn't the only person to shout out when Mark Lampert hit the stop button in the video, was I?

to be honest I'm not to happy about Jeremy Soule's return. Oblivion's music was mediocre at best and there are tons of much more capable composers than him. I was hoping for something/someone fresh. What makes me somewhat optimistic is that this time the game setting is much more "Themed", I mean, oblivion was one of the most generic and dullest game environments ever (I LOVED the game nonetheless), and Skyrim with the Scandinavian/Celtic theme gives much more possibilities to express the feel in the music than boring fields of grass and nice little forests.

I seriously hope for something on the line of The last of the mohicans/Braveheart/Celtic music. Will Jeremy be able to pull that off? Will see.

One thing I have to admit, the main theme is an INSTANT classic/HIT

The choir was overdone. He said he wanted this huge drum and viking choir singing. The end result sounded to me like an M1 Abrams firing away. But I liked how he put Morrowind's theme in it.

Hehe no you weren't. I was "Ahhh!!" when it happened as well. :)

Regarding the soundtrack, I really hope they implement New Vegas' music mechanics. In New Vegas, you have different songs for the various areas. Not just Dungeon/Explore/Public/Battle songs.
Maybe songs for taverns? Guild halls? Important locations?
à la Daggerfall. :D

I wish.
