Odd problem with ashlanders added by MCA 6.1

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:51 am

Okay so here's the problem. On my oldest characters set of saves all of the ashlanders added by MCA are bald. It started happening with the 6.0 version. A newer character that I have doesn't suffer from this problem. I have Westly's Head pack installed and no telltale warnings pop up in warnings.txt. I keep my saves clean with wrye mash and tried to restore/reset spawn points to no avail.

The only thing I can think of that's different is I enslaved a bunch of them to feed to my vampire children for easy level gaining. Anyone know of a way to check the save to see if those particular npc's are on an embrace/enslave list?

I really don't want to lose this character as I been playing him off and on for around 3 years now.

Are you using 6.1? One of the changes was
Female Dunmer thugs are no longer bald.
Maybe related...

Yeah my MCA readme has 6.1 changes listed. I don't know wtf is going on. Other characters that never been around them before have no problems. I have tried waiting 72 hours as well.

Think the ashtorms made their hair fall out?

Heh :) Can you do an ORI on one of these bald dudes? If we can get the ID can have a look and see, it'd be interesting to see if there's something messed up with them.

Oh, there's nothing in your warnings.txt is there?

NPC_ records are saved in your savegame, and they remember head and hair models. I would try getting an ID for one of the baldies, and compare his hair model between the savegame and MCA. If that looks like the problem, then deleting his NPC_ record from your savegame should work. This will reset those NPCs you delete, so be careful.

You should be able to remove them easily with Wrye Mash's removers function, or Enchanted Editor or "tes3cmd delete".

When I open the save up in Enchanted Editor should I "give rogaine" to them through the Non Player Characters (1024) or NPC's Altered/Killed by Player (3453)? The first has ID's like NPC_id while the latter has ID's like NPCC ID+spawn number.

I got it sorted out thanks to you john. It always seems like your saving that character whenever he runs into a brick wall. Turns out the evil bastard made the hair fall out of 91 NPC's from MCA. Guards, pilgrims, vampires, werewolves, companions, almost none was spared his wrath. :nuke: I had no idea baldness was that big of a problem.

What I had to do was using Enchanted Editor open up my save and go into the Non Player Characters section and look through the ones with _MCA tags. If the KNAM block which affects HairID was empty I deleted that NPC from the list.

I know I seen someone else with this problem while searching for an answer. Whoever that was maybe this will help ya.
