When's the best time to install add ons?

Post » Mon Mar 07, 2011 2:52 am

Hi everyone, it's been a while. After my hard drive crashed several months ago, I lost everything. So I've finally reinstalled Fallout 3. I had previously downloaded all the add ons/expansion packs like Operation Anchorage which I bought and downloaded from GFWL. In the regular game, I think I'm a level 12 or 13 and I'm wanting to know what's the best time to go ahead and download again and reinstall the add ons. AND if there is a way to move the files away from Microsoft GFWL I'd love to know that. Before, I had to stay connected to the GFWL website everytime I played, it automatically opened.

So I guess that's two questions: a. best time to install add ons and b. can I move my add ons so I'm not connected to Microsoft? :)

Thanks for any help or ideas, G

Best time is at the start of your game file. You CAN add mods and DLC later on, but it can cause issues, depending on how large of a mod they are. DLC's can be added anytime.

And did you install to c:\program files\ blah blah blah?

If do take it out of there and put it on a different drive or under c:\games or c:\fallout3

1) Install the dlc as soon as you can, why wait?
2) Rename the file "Fallout3.exe.cab" (not the actual exe file!) to something else and Live wont bother you anymore.
