Ice Hockey in Skyrim

How about adding sport into the game? As Todd mentioned in his interview you can have all the genres you want in a rpg, so what about adding some kind of primitiv ice hockey to the game, just as a nice gimmick or maybe even a minigame.
Skyrim is very snowy so it would totally fit imo, so maybe some villages with their own lake could play it.
The skates should be something like that

What do you think? Would it be cool or doesn't it fit, maybe cause of the civil war or something different.

Lol...the Canadian in me soooo wants to say yes to hockey, but I really don't think it would work all that well ....interesting thought though :)

A sort of sport would be fun :) Though i guess Nords wouldnt play hockey... it to non-violent :P Rather something what Nords would do. Maybe axe trowing?

Well, actually I heard Vikings played hockey with human heads! and Hockey is not exactly "non-violent". But although the human head theory may be unfounded, it still might look a little odd in this game. I do think however that sports would be kind of cool (even though I hate them in real life), they, like the farming, crafting, cooking and whatever else you can do make the world feel much more real. Axe throwing might be fun, especially seeing as outside every fighter's guild in Oblivion there were targets and stuff, but I don't think there was any oppurtunity to actually compete with your fellow guild mates, another thing to totally add realism! I also think that hunting (another thing that I despise in real life) should be better implemented as an actual good way to generate income (especially because of the culture/landscape the game is set in). Several fighting arena's should also be implemented throughout the land, and not just in some the major cities, and that should add a very interesting almost main storyline/campaign of its own, just a much more open-ended one I think.

Is this guy a troll, or is this seriously the type of people that hang out in these forums?

Hooking would be really brutal. It'd be more lime hamstringing. Players out permanently due to an inability to walk. Well, maybe not. That's what healing spells and restore health potions are for.

On a serious note . . . bad idea. I just can't imagine playing a sport that as a Canadian I hate anyways (yes there are Canadians that hate hockey. I think there are three of us now. :P) and put it in a fantasy game--a genre that I love--a genre that Hockey has no business being in.

Sports though or some kind of gaming sure. But a people like the Nords? I can see sparing, archery, axe throwing, looting, pillaging, raiding, razing, etc. heh.

Ha, well you can add one more to the list of Canadians who hate hockey. But I like your idea of the "looting, pillaging, raiding, razing, etc." even though I usually play as a good character, it would also be fascinating to defend against these, it is totally appropriate the "Viking" aesthetic (just hope there is boats), and I like the idea of you teaming up with a bunch of NPC's to do something big, that should be implemented for other things as well, like let's say exploring dungeons together with guild mates (isn't that what guilds are for anyways) or starting a rebellion against a bad ruler, etc. I can also see all that working because apparently dragons can attack towns too; now just hoping buildings can take damage, and then get rebuilt! All of this would make the game feel very real and like an entirely simulated world to explore, I don't even mind if is somewhat scripted.
