Fort Constantine and Mr. Tenpenny

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:37 am

I was thinking after I got into fort Constantine and did a little poking around: what did Tenpenny really want from the place? The obvious is the T-51b Power Armor, but what about that ICBM still sitting in it's silo? What about the whole warehouse full of Megaton sized bombs?

This is a bit of a conspiracy theory seeing as the quest "You gotta shoot 'em in the head" ends if you pick up the T-51b suit but it got me to thinking.

The bomb storage are just bombs that weren't prepped for launch in 2077 and were reserves.

And tenpenny did not go to Fort Constantine. He is too old. it was probably burke and/or some Tenpenny security officers

Tenpenny hired a team of wastelanders consiting of Mr. Crowley, dave, ted strayer's ancestor, and apparently others. They were sent to fort constantine by Mr. Tenpenny, though we don't know why.

Tenpenny says that he hired them to get some equipment for him. I think the power armor is unlikely to be the equipment in question as if they had failed to get it then there would have been no need to doublecross Crowley.

The Wiki claims that he was after a rare gun. I am not sure what all the dialogue choices lead to, but I seem to remember someone said something about a weapon. This could be a gun or it could be the Fusion pulse charge. The FPC seems more likely as Tenpenny does not have a rare gun.

Exactly. A military warehouse filled with nuclear ordinance is likely to contain parts to activate bombs, which is exactly what he wanted so he could detonate Megaton's bomb.

I was just wondering. Where does that ICBM go, does it hit anything on the Map?

Per wiki
After attempting to launch the ICBM, the launch terminal reports an error and mentions that the missile's tracking system is damaged (naviagation data corrupted) and that the missile has failed to launch.

I can see something common with Constantine Nukes and Megaton? I did 1+1 and started thinking (!)... Is it fact that U.S government nuked D.C area, or have I imagined whole thing?

I just thought, maybe U.S government started the war with fake atomic attack to their own capital. Some reason to go boom with China.

I don't think so. They may have started the war but according to the one of the residents of underworld (sorry I forget her name) they had some warning as the west coast was hit first.

Actually if you talk to Manya, the bomb didn't make the crater. A plane carrying the bomb did. When the war started, planes started dropping out of the sky - EMP pulses, perhaps. The original Megaton settlers disassembled the plane to make shelter, then added on to it over time with scavenged parts of other planes from a nearby airport, but they didn't want to move the bomb because it would piss off the Church of the Atom. So the Megaton bomb isn't a "dud" that was used in any attack, it was probably one intended for China that never made it that far.

The best sounding explanation for the megaton bomb so far. when talking to Tenpenny before blowing up megaton, he gave a hint about getting the device which could detonate the bomb so I got the impression that the guys were stealing the detonator and the double-crossing and whatever intrigues started because some of them didn't want to blow up the town. Making wild assumptions though.

Thanks, I haven't seen that line in game (Mostly because Megaton is no more.) and I appreciate correcting my statement.
