Idk, but i almost always listen to some good music while playing FPS games. Idk why but it just makes it so much more intense sometimes lol.

Jazz.
You have given Jazz the blues because it was not added in name, Unseen.

Anything. I have a 35 hour long playlist that I listen to while playing any game. I do prefer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R1jecPe6UU. There's just something about Gulag Okestar that feels so battle-worthy.

I don't usually listen to music while I'm playing an FPS, I try and listen to my surroundings. Know whats going on around me and all that. If I had to pick a "war" genre, it'd probably be punk rock, or maybe some Post-hardcoe/mathcore. Hard, fast, and loud as hell.

I WIN THE INTERNETZ...

Seriously though... ManOwaR is unbeatable for getting into games.

If I Should Return
With My Body On My Shield
Tell My Son I Chose To Die Than Yield
Though My Life May Soon Be Gone
I Hope You'll Carry On
Remember Me As One Who Would Not Kneel

Fight With Blood
Fight With Steel
Die With Honor
Never Yield
Fearless Hearts
Filled With Pride
Into Glory We Shall Ride
Into Glory We Shall Ride

I am Driven On In The Face Of All Despair
Trust In Steel You Will Find Me There
A Sinner's Fate Awaits Me
But My Vision Guides Me On
I Will Not Stray
From The Path I'm Set Upon

I'll Fight With Blood
Fight With Steel
Die With Honor
Never Yield
Fearless Hearts
Filled With Pride
Into Glory We Shall Ride
Into Glory We Shall Ride

If I Do Not Return
Bring My Body On My Shield
Tell My Son I Chose To Die
I Chose To Die Than Yield

Fight With Blood
Fight With Steel
Die With Honor
Never Yield
Fearless Hearts
Filled With Pride
Into Glory We Shall Ride

Fight With Blood
Fight With Steel
Die With Honor
Never Yield
Fearless Hearts
Filled With Pride
Into Glory We Shall Ride

Fight With Blood
Fight With Steel
Die With Honor
Never Yield
Fearless Hearts
Filled With Pride
Into Glory We Shall Ride
I'll Die Fighting With My Brothers Side By Side

the music in game is good too, especially in fallout lol. But listen to some fast paced intense stuff can get me so much more into the game. Also

Viking metal as a reply to the other guys question for an example.

I just found out that listening to Jimi Hendrix whilst playing an FPS online, will help me to avoid EPIC RAGE when some SoB one hit kills me from the other side of the map. With a sub machine gun. While hiding in a bush. Calms me down I guess. Metal wouldn't do that, since it always gets me fired up and energized, meaning I'm more likely to rage. Where as Jimi just makes me feel like I'm high or something.

When not gaming I listen to anything that's good. Usually metal, other times classical, other times Jimi Hendrix. Lots of Vangelis and movie soundtracks too.

Never play me on Bad Company 2 then :teehee:

I will listen to anything I feel like really. Although I have found when I listen to Hendrix/The Who I do alot better.

Amon Amarth is Melodic Death Metal. Viking Metal would be a band like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB1T_yCvGFg

Anyway, on topic: I usually prefer the in-game music, but then I tend to not play FPS games anymore. If I'm not listening to in-game music, its usually stuff on my computer or iPod. You can find more information on what that is on my Last.fm (link in sig).

I just add music to my data/music directory so that I can hear it in game. Usually ambient music that fits the game.

Edit: Although I don't do it for FPS games, just RPG, so if you are asking strictly FPS, then I just listen to the in-game stuff.
